Product Description

Nottingham Forest John Robertson - Super Tramp My Autobiography book "Winger John Robertson won 28 caps for Scotland during the late 1970 and early 1980s and was the creative force behind Nottingham Forest's European Cup glories during the club's memorable Brian Clough era. Memorably, Robertson scored the goal that won Forest the European Cup in 1980 and, a year later, he fired home the winner that won the club the same accolade a second time. Such was the significance of these career highs that Robertson was recently voted the most popular player in the club's history by Forest fans. After retiring from playing, Robertson went on to strike up a wonderfully successful managerial partnership with Martin O'Neill at Leicester, Celtic and Aston Villa. Yet, amid his years of football fame, Robertson has known moments of deep personal tragedy, with the death of his daughter, who had cerebral palsy, at age 13 and the loss of his elder brother in a car crash. In John Robertson Super Tramp, the footballing legend reveals all in a humorous and touching memoir that switches engagingly between footballing glory and personal heartache.

Most Forest supporters would agree that John Robertson, "Robbo", is a proper football legend who, having been involved with the beautiful game from the 1960s to the present, has more right than most to publish this collection of memories and stories. An interesting blend of knowledge, wisdom and humour "Super Tramp" is thoroughly entertaining which is only what you'd expect from a guy considered to be the "star" of Cloughie's Championship and European Cup winning sides and; who's still at the top of his game in his supporting role to Martin O'Neill now based at Sunderland. Never takes himself too seriously, after all he was called "Supertramp" and "Fatman" off the pitch, Robertson speaks with the kind of confidence that can only come from a truly gifted player, and he was. Funny, warm and sometimes sad this is an easy book to read and I'd finished it in a couple of days. Highly recommended to all but particularly to Forest fans.

A real honest meander through Johns life. At times touching, funny, and thought provoking. Takes you steadily through how it all happened, at times its like he was on the side lines watching it unfold. Some real sadness in here sometimes feels like he is not sure how to tell you whats happened to him and those around him.
Clough crops up a lot not surprising genuine affection on JR`s part of the man that shared his most prolific years as the A1 winger in an exceptionally gifted Forest team. If you like Robertson, Clough, Forest or football this is one you have to read.
