Jemima MacKinnon knows about being jilted, she forms a social group of her own, known only as The Ladies - spurned "old maids" who embark on a delicious game of revenge against pompous aristocrats who have taken advantage of young ladies, ultimately casting them off for greener pastures. But when a new man is accused of despoiling a young woman, it turns out to be the same proud and powerful man Jemima had once long ago, aspired to attract. This gentleman she hopes to expose and ruin, however, is not only not what he appears to be, he is more than a match for Jemima.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reminiscent of Amanda Quick 4 July 2003

Format:Mass Market Paperback
Unlike the other reviewers I found this book to be very enjoyable and very reminiscent of Amanda Quick novels which are among my favorite in the historical romance genre.
3.0 out of 5 stars A True Regency 29 April 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book reads like more of a true regency but that's also it's chief flaw. Lord Belaire is stuffy and unappealing throughout. The story is mostly dull. The plot's flow is strange and there is almost no chemistry or sensuality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well 3 1/2 Stars 29 Jan 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I found the poor editing of this book to be annoying. On top of that I was more interested the whole book with the secondary character St. Ives. In fact, I had been hoping that Jemima would throw over Beau - who was basically a pompous [jerk] - and run of with St. Ives. I do hope her next book is about him - it is the only way I would dare to read another of her books.
