5.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Tribute 4 Sep 2006
Format:Audio CD
Beatles diehards will sadly never give this music a chance. A great shame indeed, for it is both respectful and insightful. Dickson's voice, after 40 years in show business is as beautiful as ever and she injects a fresh folk feel that is wierdly ancient and contemporary at the same time. 'Eleanor Rigby' sounds like a really old folk song, delivered a capella and ghost-like. Lesser known songs like 'Rain' or 'Things We Said Today'are just beautiful and 'Across The Universe'is ethereal.Dickson deserves respect for her longevity and courage in her choices of songs to sing. She's come a long way from January, February and it looks like this album could change a lot of peoples opinions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Touch of Class 7 Sep 2006
Format:Audio CD
What attracted me to this album was a song played one morning by Terry Wogan on Radio 2, 'The Fool On The Hill'. Terry announced that the new album would be released quite soon afterwards so I kept watching out for it. Now that I have received it, I can't stop playing it. Barbara Dickson has provided us with a beautiful interpretation of some of the best Beatles ballads. Her interpretations are very different from the originals but equally as good. The arrangements are rich and warm - very easy listening. And, of course, Barbara's beautfil voice shines through. The Beatles songs themselves are beautifully written - absolute poetry - and Barbara has done them justice. An excellent Album - A Touch of Class! The Beatles would be proud.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece 13 April 2008
Format:Audio CD
I am a Beatles fan through and through. Nobody has ever done justice to a Beatles song in my eyes - until now!

I have always thought that Barbara was one of the best Singers I have ever heard, so you can imagine my curiosity when I found that she had produced an album of Beatles tracks!

I bought the CD with great expectations, I thought if anyone can pull this off it would be Barbara, after all she's a big Beatles fan herself. Well to say that I was pleasantly surprised would be the understatement of the century.

This album is absolutely remarkable, the emotion that Barbara brings to these wonderful songs makes you appreciate even more how well they are written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing's Gonna Change My World 16 Jan 2009
Format:Audio CD
On the face of it, it doesn't sound very original to record an album of Lennon,Mc Cartney and Harrison songs. However, Barbara re-creates these wonderful songs in her own way. Highlights for me are 'I Will' and the beautifully re-imagined 'Eleanor Rigby' which has a tremondous atmosphere to it. 'The Fool On The Hill' also has a gorgeous arrangement. Many people consider the music of the Beatles to be untouchable but Barbara really impresses with this collection.
