More About the Author

Barbara got her first horse, Country Squire, when she was eleven years old and considers herself lucky to have spent at least as much time on him as she did in the dirt. Next came Yankee Doodle who was far more cooperative and patient with her. Over the years, she showed in equitation classes, hunter classes, went on hunter paces, taught horseback riding at her stable called Sunshine Farm, and went fox hunting on an Appaloosa who would jump anything. With her Dutch Warmblood, Barbara began eventing and again found herself on a horse with great patience and who definitely taught her everything important she knows about horses.

About the Author

Barbara was born in New York City but now lives at Black Cat Farm. Envisioning a career as a globe-hopping photojournalist, after college she determined her hop muscles weren't global strength so turned to writing. No life experience is safe from her keyboard and Barbara has proved that being a magnet for story material may be overstimulating to live through but it's all ultimately research.

Uplifting, funny and light hearted read with great characters. Was sorry when it finished and I would read another book about the continued life of the main characters if it came out.

An ok story which passed the time but characters didn't really draw me in. The ending was wrapped up a bit too quickly for my liking.

Nothing Serious by Barbara Morgenroth
Genre: Sweet Romance

Paige, a city girl who has a hard time keeping a conventional job and makes "friends" online only, reaches her tipping point when an online beau lies to her. Ditching her entire life, computer included, she rents the only place she can afford, a fifties bungalow in a New York lakeside resort. Funneling her creative energies into converting old tools and mechanical parts into fountains and cutsey tourist pieces, she opens a shop in town, and instantly gets into trouble. Jonathan Macklin, who owns the shop next to Paige's, lends her his ladder, his tools, his computer, and finally, retracting the loan status, his heart.

Living a life she never imagined, Paige discovers lost art worth millions, that her online beau is a crook, that she can sell her fountains, make friends in person, dress as a flapper, retrieve her passion for painting in oils, and along the way, drive reserved, unflappable Jonathan more than a little crazy. Oh, and she gets arrested for internet espionage.

Funny, sassy, and with plot twists not found in most romances, Nothing Serious is a fun, fast read with witty dialogue, off- beat characters, and more story than you expect.

Loved this book 7 April 2011

I enjoyed the story.
I seriously hate writing reviews, but I do think rating a book is helpful.
So that's what I do.

I can add that I have read several of Barbara Morgenroth's books and enjoyed them all. Completely.
I like that her characters take relationships very seriously, and have interesting things to say.

Nothing but Seriously Good Fun 27 Jan. 2013
By Deborah Melanie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Declaring freedom from the internet and the city, Paige Elliott heads for the Catskills. Opening a shop, Nothing Serious, Paige nearly nails her hand to the wall trying to hang her sign, avoids zoning board jail and falls for Jonathan Macklin, the antiques dealer next door. She spots a rare portrait at an auction, and borrows money from Jonathan to buy it. The windfall for the lost masterpiece is used to bail a local character out of jail. When Paige can't pay Jonathan back, he thinks the worst. She has been treating life, her art and love as nothing serious for so long; can she change in time to be with Jonathan?

Nothing Serious is a fun, entertaining read, filled with likeable, quirky characters who keep the plot moving nicely along. Paige is the kind of heroine you could share good conversation with, over coffee and doughnuts, in the local diner. In Kanah Springs, Ms Morgenroth has brought us a town, filled with cute festivals and unique inhabitants.

I found Ms Morgenroth to possess a smooth sense of humour which shone through in her writing. Through the use of character conversations, the author allows her sense of fun and comedy to reach the reader, in a gentle and personal manner. The story follows Paige and her swift move to a new town, where mishaps and misunderstandings seem to follow her like a lost puppy. Throughout it all however, our heroine manages to shine.

As Paige battles her internet cold turkey and the confines of her tiny shower cubicle, she finds it a struggle to come to terms with life in a small town. Her attraction to Jonathan Macklin however seems to go some way to easing her woes. But with a huge misunderstanding over money, the reader begins to wonder if Paige will manage to turn things around and finally get her man. If you enjoy a swift moving story line, filled with wit and banter, then Nothing Serious is worth taking a peek at.

Fun story with quirky characters 18 Mar. 2014
By Kit-Kat75 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is a darling book filled with humorous situations, misunderstandings, and quirky characters. While there was some romance, it was very minor and I would have liked to have seen more--just a few more sweet, clean kisses.

Paige is a woman who is so addicted to her electronic devices and social media, she doesn't know how to converse in the real world. After being jilted by an online potential love interest on a dating site, she literally rips the modem out of the wall and runs away to a small, historic town. She assumes way too much and jumps to too many conclusions, which leads to a lot of funny situations.

Jonathan is a good guy, yet hesitant and suspicious by nature. He likes to live his life behind the scenes and low-key and Paige is constantly throwing a wrench into those plans.

I love the supporting characters as well--Bon, Maddie, and a mysterious man.

Witty dialogue, fun storyline with a little mystery involved, in a unique setting.

Content: Clean.
