Product Description

A page-turning novel of desire and broken dreams from the internationally bestselling author of The Other Side of Midnight and If Tomorrow Comes.

Three young doctors-their hopes, their dreams, their unexpected desires… Dr.Paige Taylor: She swore it was euthanasia, but when Paige inherited a million dollars from a patient, the D.A. called it murder. Dr. Kat Hunter:She vowed never to let another man too close again-until she accepted the challenge of a deadly bet. Dr. Honey Taft:To make it in medicine, she knew she'd need something more than the brains God gave her. Racing from the life-and-death decisions of a big major hospital to the tension-packed fireworks of a murder trial, Nothing Lasts Forever lays bare the ambitions and fears of healers and killers, lovers and betrayers. And proves once again that no reader can outguess Sidney Sheldon, the master of the unexpected.

Compelling 22 April 2001

From the moment I picked the book up I was gripped. I needed to know what was written on the next page. I just couldn't put the book down until it was finished and even then I wanted it to continue. Great if you have an interest in medicine and if you have an interest in people. An exciting read cover to cover.

What I love about Sidney Sheldon is that he makes no apologies nor does he make any pretense about his novels. His stories are meant to keep you turning the pages. Period. They are not high literature. They are not world-changing. They are just fun, fast-paced stories, usually featuring beautiful women in peril, and you're fairly certain that things will end on an interesting note.

Nothing Lasts Forever is no exception to the Sheldon formula. I picked it up specifically because I wanted something undemanding to read on a flight. I was not at all disappointed, though the courtroom scenes were laughable in their unreality. They were written as if they were a television show's version of courtroom activity. Not a thing that happened in those scenes would happen in real life. That did not diminish the fun of reading them, however.

The story rolled along with suspense and expediency, and I got what I wanted out of it. There isn't really any mystery to the story - the characters tell of their plans as they're unfolding, but it is still nifty to see who gets their comeuppance and how it all ties together in the end. All in all, a satisfying read from a dependable storyteller.
