Product Description

Product Description

Every book tells a story And the 70 titles in the Pocket Penguins series are emblematic of the renowned breadth of quality that formed part of the original Penguin vision in 1935, and that continues to define our publishing today. Together, they tell one version of the unique story of Penguin. No 8 Marian Keyes On the Road Marian Keyes spearheaded a new wave of contemporary women's fiction that Penguin became famous for in the 1990s, providing wickedly funny tales of twenty- and thirty-somethings living and loving on the edge. No stranger to the road less commonly travelled herself, Marian also wrote two collections of tales and observations from her own life. Nothing Bad Ever Happens in Tiffany's is a selection of these and sees her coming to terms with life abroad.

Short but sweet 7 July 2005
Format:Paperback
I have to admit that I had a little bit of a buying spree on these pocket penguins, and with a an impatient husband waiting, I chose almost at random.

I am a Marian Keyes fan, but when I realised that this wasn't fiction but one of her collections of writing about her life, I wasn't sure that I wold enjoy it.

No worries - it's as funny as her fiction, giving a quick insight into where the ideas and characters for her books come from. Small enough to carry in a bag or read in the bath, but satisfying enough to not leave you feel short changed.

If you've never read any of her books before this is also an excellent introduction

This is a cute little book but if you have read "Further Under the Duvet" (or as it's called in the States "Cracks in My Foundation") you've already read these observational anecdotes. The essays are "Passport Out of Here" "Cheaper than Drugs" "Stack n Fly" "36 Hours in Jo'Burg" "Being Sent to Siberia" "I Shop Therefore I Am" "Villa-itis" and "Eyes Wide Shut".

If you love a quick fix of reading, this is the book for you. It's not Marian Keyes' usual Chicklit fare - this is a collection of hilarious monologues about embarrassing and notable moments in her life.

Cringeworthy at times, each tale made me laugh out loud. Even my husband, allergic to most female writers, chortled at some of the author's descriptions.

If you have an hour to spare, buy this little gem.
