Product Description

Product Description

Inspired by the Talking Heads' song of the same name, 'Nothing but Flowers' explores the complexities and challenges of love in a post-apocalyptic landscape; from a take-away coffee mug to a gun to the head, a fortune cookie to a guitar, the open road and beyond. Poignant, funny, horrifying and sensual, this collection of short fiction leaves an indelible mark on ideas of what it means to love and be loved. Edited by Jodi Cleghorn and penned by 25 emerging writers. 'Nothing But Flowers' is volume II in the Literary Mix Tapes series of crowd-sourced short story anthologies. All proceeds donated to the Grantham Flood Support Fund. Stories by: Sam Adamson, Jim Bronyaur, Jen Brubacher, Adam Byatt, Christopher Chartrand, Carrie Clevenger, Jason Coggins, Janette Dalgliesh, Rob Diaz II, Rebecca Dobbie, Rebecca Emin, Laura Eno, Annie Evett, Susan May James, P.J. Kaiser, Maria Kelly, Lily Mulholland, Emma Newman, Dan Powell, Dale Challener Roe, Icy Sedgwick, Paul Servini, Benjamin Solah & Graham Storrs

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent theme, excellent stories, and all for charity!, 20 May 2011

This review is from: Nothing But Flowers: Tales of Post-Apocalyptic Love (Paperback)
Straight up, let me tell you, I'm a contributor to this collection of post-apocalyptic love stories, so it's possible I'm a tad biased. On the other hand the proceeds of this book are destined to support flood victims in Queensland, and the stories are all about love after the apocalypse. With the Rapture due tomorrow and the Mayan calendar prediction that we won't make it past next year, it's a good time to be thinking about just what love might mean at the end of days. One thing is for sure, if you believe the other 25 authors who contributed to the book, love won't end just because the world does. Honestly, these are good stories, well-written, deep, thoughtful and sometimes very emotional. The contributors and the editor each gave their time, their talents and their stories for free to help people in need. Now I highly recommend that you grab a copy and enjoy the fruits of their generosity and, at the same time, help some people who really need your support, people who lost everything in the recent Queensland floods.
