There are not many books for young adults on the topic of queer parents. This book is a rare jem. It was doubly good because it also tackled the topic of bi-cultural relations. The book is written in the boy's voice. I could not put it down. I cried.

This book is about a boy and his view on the world. It includes his perspectives on racial relationships, dating, and homosexuality. Melanin Sun learns to think beyond what he has been told by society and comes to a greater understanding of himself, his family and his friends.
