I love this laptop, it is fast, has a good sized hdd and plays blu-rays...
The wifi picks up signals from my local library! (a good 300yds away) and it is compatible with my year and a half old HP all-in-one printer!
For those worried about not being able to use your printers, scanners etc. with the new Vista OS, the larger companies have already made patches and updated software...
The webcam is very responsive, but not very clear, although this is to be expected with such a small mega pixel camera.
The card slots are compatible with your normal SD and the Sony pro cards, unlike previous laptops which were only compatible with sony's cards.
if you join Vaio club you get your copy of Spiderman3 on Blu-ray posted to you... it takes about 3 weeks to arrive, but its FREE! (Vaio club is free to join and be a member of)
The HD screen is brilliant and makes your high quality digital photos feel almost 3d! It is also widescreen, and is brilliant for watching films on!
The Sony website mentions something about using the laptop as a DVD/Blu-ray player without turning on Windows, upto now I haven't worked this out... but I'm going near a sony store soon, so I'll ask there...
The laptop comes boxed with 2 or three booklets, one stating how to set up your computer... read it and laugh! basically you put it together (battery in slot, charger in slot and plug in plug socket) and then press the on button! Its that easy! the rest are adverts, one for the vaio club and one for the accessories you can buy. The user manual is on the laptop itself, and you can create emergency disks when your computer is set up.
The user manual is not very useful, unless you would like to know how to open your dvd drawer, or how to turn on the laptop... BUT the laptop is EXTREMELY easy to use.
I LOVE this laptop, and wouldn't exchange it for any of the newer FZs or anything else on the market atm for less than £800... not for a year or 3 anyway.
TBH the new FZs and more expensive models are only "better" because of the Blu-ray writers, but look on the sony style site at the price of blank blu-ray disks! expensive! And they have slightly bigger hdds, but atm 200gb is big enough... especially for a laptop, and externals and very affordable atm.
WORTH EVERY PENNY!
