Product Description

Brian Weller is a haunted man. It's been two years since the tragic accident that left his three-year-old son dead and his wife in an irreversible coma. A popular author of mega-selling thrillers, Brian's life has reached a crossroads: his new book is stalled, his wife's prognosis is dire, and he teeters on the brink of despair.

Everything changes the morning an e-mail arrives from Boston artist Joanna Richman. Her heartfelt note brings back all the poignant memories: the night their eyes met, the fiery passion of their short-lived affair, and the agonizing moment he was forced to leave Joanna forever. Now, fifteen years later, the guilt and anger threaten to overwhelm him. Vowing to make things right, Brian arranges a book-signing tour that will take him back to Boston. He is eager to see Joanna again, but remains unsure where their reunion will lead. One thing is certain: the forces that tore their love asunder will stop at nothing to keep them apart.

Filled with tender romance and taut suspense, A Note from an Old Acquaintance is an unforgettable story about fate, honor, and the power of true love.

A great, thought provoking read! 4 Sep 2009
By Jenera Healy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Have you ever wondered what you would do if a lover from your past pops up one day? "A Note From An Old Acquaintance" explores this very topic.

In the very first chapter we meet Brian Weller and learn that his son is dead, his wife is in the hospital, he's struggling with writers block, and he receives an email from a friend. I was hooked right away. Here is a character facing an uncertain future with his wife that is in a coma and then hears from a past lover. What a quandary to be in!

Through the first few chapters, we are in the present day as Brian struggles with decisions about his wife, his career, and email exchanges with Joanna Richman, his past lover. Then we are abruptly sent back to the past, 15 years prior, when Brian is a small business man and struggling to break into the novel business.

Along the way, he meets Joanna for the first time and then begins a whirlwind affair of love, passion, and mystery. Events along the way dramatically change the course of their relationship and the future of both characters.

Near the end the author, Bill Walker, brings it back to the present where we learn the fate of our characters and the intertwining relationships.

Bill Walker does a great job with his characters. Though at first, Brian may seem a bit guarded and a little indifferent to his wife, Penny's, situation, we learn this is not the truth at all. And at first, I questioned Joanna's motives for contacting him. But as the story unfolds you are swept along in this love story that makes you think of your own past.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who likes love stories that are not all neatly wrapped packages. There is enough mystery, action, and intrigue that men would enjoy reading this as well.

"A Note From An Old Acquaintance" is available for purchase at Amazon.com and [...] for a discounted price!

And as a side note, Bill Walker signed my review copy of this novel and I have to say that is awesome! I'm a book geek and having a book signed by it's author is so exciting! Thank you Mr. Walker!
A Good Romantic Read 27 Mar 2012
By Bella luna - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A Note from an old Acquaintance by Bill Walker is a romance where love gets a second chance. Young sculptor, Joanna Richman surrenders to a persistent courtship by older, successful businessman, Erik Ruby. He treats her acquisition like one of his many treasured possessions, relentless during the pursuit, but lacking in devotion after she has been acquired. After Joanna agrees to marry Erik, she meets a young aspiring writer, Brian Weller, who shares her artistic sensibilities. For the first time, Joanna feels as though she has met her soul mate.

This book is fun to read, like nibbling on chocolates in bed! I especially liked the insights into how Joanna and Brian found inspiration for their creations, while remaining vulnerable to feedback from their audiences. On the other hand, I felt that characters were underdeveloped. Erik is a bit too much the evil businessman who only cares about money, while Joanna and Brian are granted too many free passes to pursue their vision of being soul mates without regard to the effect on others. I wasn't completely convinced about the enduring value of a love match that didn't account for ethical obligations. Still, the novel is a fun love fantasy and will be enjoyed by those who seek a good ,romantic read.
True Love Never Stops 19 Mar 2012
By Sarah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Even though this book wasn't a hot, sinful sex type book, it was enthralling and endearing. I truly loved it. It was a forbidden love story between two artists who fell in love despite one of them being in a relationship with another man.

Brian is aspiring writer when he met Joanna, an artist who teaches art and has never sold a piece. As they get to know each other they inspire each other to be the best they can be. Unfortunately, Joanna is torn between her deep love of Brian who understands her, and her rich fiance, who wants to buy her way into becoming a famous artists. One thing leads to another, and Brian an Joanna fall apart. But, nothing can stop true love...

This book was very, very intriguing as I read along Joanna and Brian's journey of love. It was an amazing read that had strong characters, and even stronger love. I could not put this down!

My favorite part was when Joanna FINALLY confronts Erick (the fiance and then husband). i mean, seriously, I know she had feelings for him, but really. If I was Brian-when they were dating, before any of them married-I would feel as if Joanna was stringing him along for sex.

The only problem with the book is that certain parts in the middle become boring, but that's about it. Not so boring I wanted to put it down, but still. A reader wants to be entertained all the way through.

This book could definitely be defined as a tear-jerker with a happy ending. It had some moments that I cried to,laughed to, and others that made me "awww." A true master piece!

Recommendations??

Any lover of romance, and happy endings should be enthralled with novel as well. Pick it up, and see for yourself!
