When I got my tablet last week, it came with two different instructions about how to charge the battery. The single sheet of paper instruction says to drain it a couple of times and this helps the life of it, but the booklet says not to do that just keep topping it up. You must all have had this as well. I am doing what the booklet said by just topping it up but it only last about 2 hours and even when I'm not using wi-fi the battery icon is going down at an alarming rate. Does anyone know the right way to treat the battery. Thanks.
I had the same query. Although some people say charge at any time I emailed Wendy Lou who said its best to let the battery go right down before re-charging. Re. your other problem are you sure you are actually switching off.? If you press and hold the power button you will get a pop up asking if you wish to shut down. If you press the button quickly the sreen will go black but the tablet will be in standby and will still be using battery. I was doing the same thing. Let us know how you are doing.
Thanks Petermartin, I will do what Wendy Lou said and let it drain right down first, hopefully it'll last a bit longer then. I know about the power button and I never meant that, what I mean is if I am just playing an app for instance, I turn the wi-fi off as its supposed to help with the battery, but the icon still shows it going down fast.
The rule with this type or rechargeable battery is to charge it overnight first time and then drain it completely. Do the same again until you've done 3 full charges. This maximises the battery life. You can now just top it up when needed.
Once a month drain it fully and charge overnight again.
Petermartin - it will show that it's charged after only 2 hours but what actually happens is it will fast charge to about 80% in the first 2 hours then trickle charge for several hours after until it reaches 100%. That's why you should do a full overnight charge once a month.
This applies to laptop, mobile phone, home phone, iPod and radio batteries etc. People are amazed at how much use I get out of one charge on a number of devices.
Also, there are apps you can download that tell you where you battery is being used most.
