my 3 year old loves this book. fun and repetitive sentences that he joins in with, and the monkeys antics and cheekiness makes him laugh. would highly recommend it if your little ones love animals and have have a cheeky nature!

and it is not easy to predict.....
...who DOES get the last laugh in this SUPER book from Colin West?
In my experience, this is a GREAT addition to the book corner as readers and listeners (of all ages) are kept guessing to the very end!
From the back cover:-
'Who keeps dropping banana skins and throwing coconuts and causing all sorts of mischief in the jungle?
"Not me," says the monkey.
But everyone knows he's to blame - and when he tickles the elephant, the cheeky chimp gets a big surprise.
Colin West's delightfully simple and surprising tale is ideal for early readers.'
Simple paperback covers open to 24 high quality shiny pages, 18 of which carry text, in the popular 2-page spread format.
With detailed pastel illustrations throughout this book is further enhanced by meaningful facial expressions and a repeat element.
Clear, easy-to-follow text....enhanced in places....FOR EFFECT!

...and so the story carries on with another couple of understandably grumpy additions to the 'Not me' list!..........
...However there is a surprise in store for this rather cheeky monkey......and beyond!
In a read-aloud environment this book has proved to be VERY popular as it offers great scope for joining in....not just in terms of the repeat element, but also in the scanning of the illustrations - generally resulting in the more observant spotting clues for the guilty party!
Of course, "Not me!" is a VERY EASY phrase for children to recognise and repeat, and........ along with the animal noises and the 'tickling'.....this book can be a VERY NOISY encounter!
One of a seemingly under-exposed series by this super author/illustrator which includes:-
"Pardon?" said the giraffe
"Have You Seen the Crocodile?"
"Go tell it to the toucan!"
"Hello, great big bullfrog!"

I bought this book, along with 'Pardon Said The Giraffe' for my grandson aged 20months. He loves books and monkeys, so it was a winning combination. It's an unusual and funny story, which would not be wasted on some older children. Fabulous to look at and a joy to read and discuss. Great value for money, it is our favourite story at the moment.

An instant hit!
Recently bought this, and it became an instant hit with my 19 month old daughter at bedtime! The book is quick and easy to read, and DD loves the ending!
