I bought The Lion And The Cobra (Sineads debut album) a few years back on the strength of Troy (an absolute classic) but avoided getting I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got as I suspected it wasn't as good. Yes, Nothing Compares 2U is great but I had my doubts about the rest. Then someone gave me a tape with the track The Emporers New Clothes on it, and I finally gave in and bought the cd.

Very pleasantly suprised - the quality is as good as her debut, very well written songs and Sineads voice is amazingly powerful and full of emotion. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to trying her later albums, but for the moment this is permanently in my cd player (PS if you haven't already guessed, The Lion And The Cobra is a must-have too!)

Nobody sings the way Sinéad O'Connor does. Her voice is fragile yet aggressive, her lyrics are poetic yet controversial. Her mind is sad yet aware.

Each song on »I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got« (such an uncommercial album title would only work out for Sinéad) has its own soul, its own story, its own sadness. Beautifully sung by the Irishwoman, and in a way that no cover version will be able to keep up with the depth that she has put into it all.

A unique album that is very hard not to be touched by. It will always stand as a legendary album.

Sineads best - sung straight from the heart with a haunting voice.

An album well worth having.

So much more than Nothing compares 2 U.

It took me about 3 plays to get really into it but it was worth the patience.

You will play this for years to come.

Emotion in music.... heart felt songs..... you cant beat it...

Play it loud, in the dark & lose yourself in it.

A surprisingly good cd with quite a few wonderful songs.
Despite the bad rap that Sinead O'Connor gets on account of her various indescretions she is incredibly talented and this cd has the songs to prove it. Read more
