Product Description

Review

"a neat little book that fits into any glove compartment... well-illustrated, excellently written... perfectly timed for Christmas.... Enjoy the laughs, I certainly did." (LONDON MORNING PAPER )

Product Description

NOT THE HIGHWAY CODE is the unofficial 'rules of the road' that everyone knows but, for some reason, are not covered by the official HIGHWAY CODE... Where is the rule that states: if traffic lights turn amber as you approach them, put your foot down and drive as fast as you can? Where is the rule that says diversions never ever lead you back to where you want to be? Stylishly presented and structured to resemble the classic original, this witty new humour title explores the many hilarious truisms of the road today. Such as the true meaning of traffic signs, dealing with motorway middle-lane hoggers, the correct service station etiquette as well as offering advice on how to park while others watch you, driving abroad and the correct hand signal to give a cyclist. NOT THE HIGHWAY CODE is the perfect gift for anyone who has sat in the driver's seat (front or back) and although in many respects similar to the original, it will not help anyone pass their driving test.

Hilarious 18 Dec 2010
Despite what the bad reviews state, I have to strongly disagree and say its probably one of the funniest books I've ever read. I came across this in Waterstones with my friend and for about 15 minutes we were giggling away to it then we thought its common courtesy that we buy it. Even up to the last page we were laughing to the fairly silly book.
I've already recommended it to several people which they agreed in how funny it actually was. Shame I haven't yet found a book like it.
A must buy.

This book borrows some of its presentation, and all of its sense of humour, from the real highway code. That is to say: it's not at all funny. Possibly the biggest pile of drivel ever assembled into book form.

I agree with Ed Clarks. I was given this for Christmas and it simply is not funny, at all. No creative content - just reads like the uncontrolled drivel from a couple of blokes in a pub. I challenge anyone to quote a genuinely funny line.

Terrible
A flimsy piece of tat. It's like they wrote it in five minutes, although 'wrote' is a flattering description. Avoid at all costs.
