Book Description

From New York Times, USA Today, and WSJ bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the second novel in the delicious Not Quite series.

Gorgeous hotel heiress Katelyn “Katie” Morrison seems to have it all. But when she crosses paths with Dean Prescott—the only man she’s ever loved—at her brother’s wedding, Katie realizes there’s a gaping hole in her life. After the ceremony she gets an even bigger surprise: a baby girl left on her doorstep. Determined to keep the newborn until she learns who her mother is, Katie has her hands full and doesn’t need Dean snooping around…especially when his presence stirs feelings she thought were long gone..

Dean Prescott knows Katie is lying to him about the baby. He shouldn’t care what the woman who broke his heart is up to…and he most certainly shouldn’t still be aching for her. Yet Dean can’t ignore the need to protect Katie—or the desire to be near her every chance he gets. But when he and Katie solve the mystery surrounding the baby, their second chance for happiness could be shattered forever.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, light-weight but entertaining. 9 May 2013
By Anne TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is the story of Katelyn. Rich and beautiful she has lived the playgirl lifestyle but now she wants to take life seriously and work on interior design for her brother's hotel. On the night of her brother's wedding, however, she finds a baby abandoned outside her hotel suite and no evidence about where she came from except a note which gives her custody. Now she has a job, a baby and a nosy ex-boyfriend to contend with ....

This is obviously the second book in a series - this became evident during the first scene when we were introduced to the main characters at a wedding. There were a few too many who were introduced too quickly to keep track of them and their relationships - if you had read the first book in the series then this was just a reminder but coming fresh to the book it was a bit confusing. You need to move quickly onwards and get into the story as all makes sense quite quickly and the characters are brought in again one at a time.

The storyline here is well done. Although this is a book written for enjoyment rather than depth the author avoids a lot of the cliches about someone suddenly acquiring a small baby. Katie is intelligent and she can cope but she needs to keep the existence of the baby secret to try and find out where she came from and to avoid getting her family involved in her affairs. She is also trying to hold down a new job and the author shows how that is difficult even if you are able to buy in help with childcare. The other story theme about her renewed relationship with Dean and his desire to find out what has changed Katie is threaded into the story neatly, although you wonder why he originally fell for Katie as she is portrayed as an airhead before her recent change of focus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant read 27 Feb. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you’re looking for a book with a bit of suspense and a happy ending this book is for you, I won’t spoil it by telling you what happens but hers a taste, After a family wedding Katie returns to her hotel room only to have a knock on the door and a baby left with a note, Katie hires a private detective to help find the mum but a bit of a shock is revealed.
Only downside of the book is the way the charactors are introduced to the audience however you quickly learn who they are and the roll they play.
I personally enjoyed this book so would recommend it to anybody who likes a bit of suspense and a happy ending in a book :)

4.0 out of 5 stars How to Heal a Broken Heart 22 May 2013
By Book Gannet TOP 500 REVIEWER TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Heiress to her father's vast hotel fortune, Katie Morrison has always known how to get attention. Ever since her mother walked out on her as a child, she's made sure people notice her. Her life, loves and interests have been tabloid fodder for years. All except for the one fling that really mattered, with the man she's always loved - and had to let go.

Her brother's best-friend, Dean Prescott, has been in Katie's life for years. And he's still in it, no matter what happened between them. Now they have to work together. A tough enough prospect for Katie, made all the worse as she struggles to hide her newest and most potentially explosive secret - the baby abandoned on her doorstep. Which she'll do anything to keep. Even if it means letting the man she loves go. Again.

These two first appeared in Not Quite Dating - Dean getting jilted a week before his wedding, Katie as a meddlesome sister saving the romantic day. Their impact there was pretty small, but now we learn that there's a lot more to both of them than meets the eye - aside from their secret affair, of course.

Katie is caring and fiercely loyal, determined to prove herself while protecting those she loves. While Dean is actually quite sweet and intensely loving - when he gets the chance. Their story from love to heartache and tentatively back to love again is sweet and funny, with plenty of tenderness along the way. Although I do wish they'd talked properly about why things went wrong. Then again, as lovely as their love story was, this tale was equally about motherhood and how Katie dealt with the various aspects of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Mine by Catherine Bybee 16 May 2013
    Format:Paperback
Katie and Dean had been friends since high school. Katie always had a crush on Dean but it wasn't until after high school that they began to date. Secretly of course. It wouldn't do for Katie's dad and brother to find out. They were both privileged kids, their parents wealth well established, and as such they wanted to keep this to themselves. No media stories. No friends feeling guilty, if they broke up, about who to invite to their parties. As suddenly as it began it ended. Katie then got the reputation of being a wild child. Sleeping around, traveling and parties were on her nightly agenda. Dean, meanwhile, nursed a broken heart for more than one reason. Now they've got a second chance, will they take it?

This is a wonderfully crafted story about a wealthy spoiled girl and her sudden need to grow up. Love the characters and their personalities really shine through. You'll laugh and you'll sigh as you read this book. An easy read, Catherine Bybee has done a terrific job of keeping the characters true to the first book in the series. This is a keeper!!

I found no issues with this one.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because I couldn't put it down.
