We love this picture book in our house. My two and a half year old daughter always says "and now we read it again" when we get to the end. The illustrations are lovely - there is a lot to talk about on each page. The story is simple and repetitive, just the thing for a small child to enjoy. There are lots of opportunities for making loud animal noises, and we all "too-whit-to-woo" very loudly at the right moments. There are also some quiet bits by way of a contrast. All in all, you can make this a really good, joining in, fun read. I would strongly recommend this book as being suitable for a child from about two upwards.

My daughter loves this book - it is one of her favourites. We read it over and over. She loves the animals and of course Oliver. She likes to join in with the Sshhhing!! Great fun!!

This is a wonderful story, perfect for bedtime. It encourages a lot of interaction to make farmyard animal noises as well as teaching the names of the various animal babies trying to get to sleep. It's a firm favourite, so much so that my son can virtually repeat it from memory. A great buy for younger readers.
