A good clear account of why we cannot possibly live in our present electricity dependent way without the basis of fossil fuel based energy. I enjoyed Ian Plimer's no nonsense approach to the claims for renewable fuels and learned a lot about the coplexity of modern mining and what it takes to produce every day objects which one takes for granted. I wish it were possible to make this required reading for us all!

Ian's classic was of course Heaven and Earth – global warming: the missing science with its thousand plus references. Not for greens is one of two follow-up books. This one written with a detectable exasperation about dealing with greens with a misplaced faith and with no understanding of science or who the world works. Nevertheless a good read for the celebrated man in the street but he is right this is not a book that greens could read.

In short: A clearly written and highly recommended book! A better title, though, would have been “For Greens”.

Best, :) Antero Jarvinen, Finland (professor of zoology)
