Synopsis
Not Going Out is a BBC sitcom played mostly on the effects of deadpan and wordplay. The series stars Lee Mack as Lee, a confused, lethargic and unmotivated thirty-something living in London with Kate, an attractive and successful American whom he falls for. Unfortunately Kate is Lee’s landlady and, even worse, his best friend Tim’s ex girlfriend. In the second series of the show Kate goes back to the U.S. leaving Tim and Lee fighting over the property of the flat she was sharing with the latter. To make things more complicated, Lucy, Tim’s sister, rents a spare bedroom in the much contested apartment. This collection features all episodes from both the first and second series of the acclaimed show.

If you have ever seen Lee Mack in Mock the Week or as a stand-up comedian and thought he was funny, then you will definitely like Not Going Out!
The plots centre around three characters, misunderstandings and male immaturity. The one liners from Mack come thick and fast, they sometimes hide a weak plot, but it is a good giggle.

The show itself is superb, it's simple gag-heavy and very well produced. If you intend to purchase this DVD box-set then you probably already know this, having seen it on TV. However the DVD itself offers little apart from the series itself. It has a few extras, but not many. A few audio commentaries (not one per episode as you would expect) and a behind the scenes film, which was clearly done by someone who was bored during the filming and had little else to do.
In short, the show itself is superb but the DVDs themselves add little to the experience. However the price makes it worth a purchase, as you can't go wrong for a tenner.

Most comedy shows that are on at the minute are 'hit & miss', except this one, as it's head and shoulders above the rest!
'Not Going Out' is my favourite comedy show of recent times (and that includes all the American sitcoms) and always made sure I didn't miss it when it was on the BBC........... PLEASE BRING IT BACK FOR ANOTHER SERIES, IT'S FAR BETTER THAN GAVIN & STACEY!!!!
I have now been succumbed to watching it on the Comedy Central Channel, but now that I got the boxed set for Christmas, I can watch it whenever I want.
A REALLY FUNNY SHOW, WATCH IT & YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
