Product Description

Walter Richmond (William Hurt), his wife Cathryn (Jennifer Tilly), and his daughter Melissa (Francesca Brown), are all on holiday together in Amsterdam. One day however, Melissa accidentally witnesses a murder, and subsequently becomes targeted by the killers, who are intent on ensuring that she never reveals their identities. But Melissa is unable to speak, and consequently cannot explain to her parents what is happening.

From the Back Cover

Imagine that you’re in a strange city where everyone speaks a foreign language. People are chasing you and you don’t know who you can trust or where you can turn. Now, imagine that you’re only ten years old and mute…
Walter Richmond (William Hurt) and his family have come to Amsterdam to close an important business deal. But their hotel is under siege by fans of a visiting popstar and daughter Melissa gets lost in the mob. Wandering into a dark courtyard, she accidentally witnesses a brutal murder and is soon forced on the run. But who can she turn to for help? Her father? Her father’s business associate (Michael Chiklis)? Helpful drug dealer Simon (stand up comic Denis Leary)? Or how about her mother (Jennifer Tilly)? She’s going to have to choose fast and it may be the last choice she ever makes. Because one of these people is responsible for the murder she is trying to expose. And one of them will stop at nothing to keep it a secret…
From cult Dutch director Dick Maas comes this dark, off-kilter thriller with more twists and turns than the streets of Amsterdam itself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear 12 Sep 2003
By A Customer
The first review is the blurb from the boxes back cover, more or less and doesn't come close to what the movie is about. To me, this was 'Home Alone' with blood, and some paedophilic comments and actions that were totally unnecesary. The parents were never at any time suspicious, or was that just me? I purchased this movie expecting to see something very different. But it did make me laugh at times.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad 19 Dec 2007
This is one of those weird films that you would either like or you would HATE! I can understand why there are more bad reviews on Do not disturb though.
I must admit it wasnt what i expected. I pictured a true horror movie with a lot of screams and jumpy bits. Unless a guy with guns scares you at all you most likely would NOT find this a scary film. I think this movie deserves half the stars because its not really a bad film, just not everyones cup of tea, thats all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD 28 May 2009
Strangely enough this DVD, situated in Amsterdam,is not available in Holland! I purchased it second hand here, and it was sent to me in just a few days. I enjoyed it very much, not only because I recognized certain streets and buildings, but also the story is like a rollercoaster ride, with a lot of action!
O, and I did NOT miss the Dutch subtitles.....!

1.0 out of 5 stars do not disturb 20 Oct 2004
This film starts but never really gets going. The plot is like one of those murder, mystery and suspense made for tv films your Mother would let you stay up late for in the 70's. Pretty alright then but things have moved on except in this film apparently. It's like Van der valk without the music avoid it like the plague.
