'sophie', reviewing here, was really reading the wrong book. It's not a book for a new mother to read, if only because some of the advice and gentle humour, all good, is about the new mother, be that the granny's daughter or her daughter -in- law! Experienced mothers will recognise themselves and laugh too. And very funny the book is (to any grandmother) and very helpful , as well as amusing, to the new grandmothers to whom it is directed. The advice is practical, for all that it's entertainingly presented, on how to be a good granny without making the mistakes that a new granny (like a new mother) may innocently make, but, above all, it and the stories are delightfully written.
