Product Description

· Few artists can fuse genres as effortlessly as Linda Lewis. Along with her incredible 5 octave vocal range, Linda Lewis was able to integrate a host of different musical elements into her recordings. Folk, Soul, Pop and Rock were all incorporated helping Linda to create one of the most unique sounds to ever come out of the UK.

· The English born singer/songwriter, Linda Lewis released 7 albums during the 70s. The most successful of these being Not A Little Girl Anymore, masterfully repackaged by BBR over 35 years after its initial release for the first time on CD anywhere in Europe.

· Released in 1975, Linda Lewis' debut album for Arista Records, climbed into the UK top 40. Linda's soulful prowess is demonstrated in the incredible THIS TIME I'LL BE SWEETER. The classic top 10 hit, IT'S IN HIS KISS and the upbeat R&B favourite ROCK `N' ROLLER COASTER were both produced by Tony Sylvester and Bert DeCoteaux some of Disco's earliest classics. The album also features backing from the legendary Allen Tousaint and the ever-impressive Tower Of Power horn section.

· Along with her solo successes, Linda Lewis also collaborated and toured with many of the worlds most successful artists like Cat Stevens, Luther Vandross, Rod Stewart, David Bowie and Jamiroquai showing just how highly regarded she is by some of the biggest names in the music industry.

· BBR is proud to present this newly re-mastered version of Not A Little Girl Anymore accompanied by extensive liner notes featuring interviews with Linda Lewis and the albums producer Jim Cregan plus additional bonus content.

· Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases, any Soul, Pop and R&B fan is sure to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this album!

I saw Linda Lewis on an Old Grey Whistle Test re-run on Sky Arts or BBC4 or some such programme, singing ' It's A Frame', straight after Roy Harper. I thought she was just the coolest singer. A great 70's vibe. On this album, I like 'I Do My Best To Impress' and 'Walkabout'. Take you to another time and place. Beautiful.

this is a good pop-soul album which as usual is reliant on covers rather than self penned songs
there is no all encompassing Linda Lewis compilation, when this is just what she needs
for a come back tour playing some big shows on her own, not just some 70's revival with the no hopers
at the moment there are only some partial hits cds for ridiculous prices, or poor quality charity shop vinyl
Linda is a big talent who should be back in the charts

I did not know this was available until I found it whilst browsing in a certain record chain store. I had one of the the singles as a download as I was putting together a compilation for my brother of his singles collection from the 70s. I'd not heard the rest of the album so this is a 'first hear' review nearly 40 years late!!

Never heard the original CD so unsure how well remastered this is but the sound is OK on my iPod - no complaints at all. Songs are a good mix of covers and self penned numbers. I never realised Linda wrote that much. Interesting version of May You Never - I'm a fan of 70s John Martyn and the cover could have been awful but Linda 'owns' her take on it. Nice to hear all the singles again and looking forward to seeing how the other songs grow with a few listens.

Nice booklet with loads of information too.

Update after more listens - I love this record. The mix of sounds is superb. The first album from Linda with cover versions as well as her own songs (the record company bosses flexing their muscles no doubt). Having said that I don't think the covers impact on LL's integrity as an artist - if she'd not had the commercial songs then we might not have got to hear her...
