Bought this to upgrade my 2005 version of the same product. Much cheaper on Amazon than purchasing the download from Symantec and I get a CD and a manual!
Have used Norton Antivirus and Systemworks for a good few years now and have been pleased with it. However, this version is so slow that it has turned my reasonably well performing PC (AMD XP2100+ processor) into a real sloth.
It took about 3 days to get the install working correctly. My PC failed to switch off correctly when Systemworks was installed the first time. An activeX uninstaller has to be downloaded and run from Symantec's web site to properly remove previous editions.
I have yet to complete a full antivirus scan, having not been prepared to leave the PC on for days to let it finish!
Symantec need to concentrate on the following:
1. Speeding up their software, particularly the Antivirus scan.
2. Writing decent installers that actually remove all traces of previous installs.
AVOID

I have used Norton for a number of years and never had too many problems.
Unfortunately this latest version is absolutely terrible. The installation screwed up my PC so it wouldn't boot and when I finally managed to bring it back to life, Norton absolutely slugs the performance (1.8Ghz 1mb memory)
The problem is that Norton (and McAfee) are tying to be too clever and trying to get users to "sign-up" for other features such as Trojan/Worm detection, Firewalls etc.
Norton should have stuck simply with providing Anti-Virus software and not to bundle the other "features" into it.
If there was a Zero rating for this product, I would have chosen it.
