It is almost impossible to find a guide to North Cyprus which is both up to date and not politically biased. Although this guide focuses on walks, excursions and rural restaurants, it actually makes by far and away the best guide to the region available at present, including as it does much practical advice and some very useful Turkish vocabulary and phrases. We bought this book shortly after publication for a holiday in April last year, and took it with us again this year in October. Of the three guide books we took, this was the one we invariably put in the car or rucksack. As with any guide of its type, walking times and restaurant recommendations may not always suit every individual, but we've now tried half a dozen walks and restaurants, and two of the excursions, and found none wanting.(we particularly enjoyed the short walk from Karaman, and Hati's cafe in Esentepe). If you go off-season as we did, we would recommend checking by phone to see if a restaurant is open, and also be aware that improvements to the roads are ongoing, and so there may be quicker routes available if you want them (the new road out from Kyrenia to Kaplica and over to Bogaz is a case in point). Also, be aware that roads can deteriorate without warning; an open-top jeep is a fun option if you're hiring a car! Back home, we found the recipes in the book gave us the best possible reminder of our holiday...!

Used this guide in august this year. Covered only parts of walks due to outrageously high temperatures. Used several of the eateries(?) along way. Guide proved very useful - concise, no waffle, accurate - small enough to fit in your trouser pocket. Will use it again next spring when temp is lower and I can complete more of the walks.
Recommended for anyone who likes to get out & about & off the normal tourist track.

An excellent little book, well thought out and very accurate, both for the walks and the restaurants, at last someone who has written something about Northern Cyprus without referring to the 'political situation'
