Nora, movie soundtrack 16 Aug 2000
By Candlelit - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I enjoyed this Soundtrack every bit as much as I enjoyed the movie. The instrumentals are hauntingly beautiful. The original soundtrack music is composed by Stanislas Syriwicz, and this CD includes two tracks of traditional vocals. The first vocal is "The Lass of Aughrim" performed by Ewan McGregor and Susan Lynch in a duet with a guitar accompaniment. The second vocal is "Ten Thousand Miles" performed by Altan. I really enjoyed the inclusion of both vocals because they added interest to the overall feeling of the soundtrack being more complete. Those who love instrumental music will find this CD very soothing.

My opinion is that the overall instrumental timbre is primarily of piano and stings, which could be interpreted as complex, haunting, and restive. The entire feel of the music is classical and timeless. The only disappointment in this CD is that two of the traditional songs performed by Ewan McGregor in the film are not included here, which is a shame, in my estimation it makes this soundtrack incomplete by them not being included.

Pictures of the composer and stars in character are included in the CD jewel case.

What an awsome soundtrack, not only does it embody the tortured soul of James Joyce, it also fits so well with the time period.
