Product Description

Product Description

Nora Ephron was a Jill of all trades whose resumé included work as a journalist, novelist, playwright, essayist, screenwriter, director and producer. She’s best known for her work on movies such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “Sleepless in Seattle” and “Julie & Julia.” But she was equally beloved in various circles as a feminist writer, unapologetic memoirist, energetic hostess and devoted friend. This e-single, comprised of articles from The New York Times archive, looks at Ephron’s life and work through the lens of The Times, where she was also a frequent contributor until her death in 2012.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new 6 Feb 2013

There are only two articles here by Nora Ephron, the rest are reviews of her work and were published a while ago. If you are a fan of Nora Ephron's then this book won't tell you anything you don't already know. If you know very little, it might be a good introduction to the woman herself and her writing.

The Life and Writing of Nora Ephron

I was extremely disappointed with this book. The title makes you think you will be reading Ephron's writings and will tell you
about her life. Not at all! It was other people talking about her writings and they all talked about the same things. It was one
writer after another talking about her books that were made into movies and talking about them on the most superficial
level you can imagine. Many people will waste their money thinking they are going to find out something substantive about
Ephron and they will be so disappointed. Shame on the publisher!

2.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment 8 July 2013

I found too much writing about Nora Ephron and not enough by her. The writing about her tended to be repetitive though each piece would stand well by itself. If you are interested in Nora Ephron, get one of her books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Other writers write about her 3 April 2013

This is a compilation of essays primarily about Nora Ephron. Two of them are by her.

It's an interesting added dimension to those of us who enjoy reading her work, not as interesting as actually reading her.

I don't think anyone who is not actually already familiar with either her movies or writing would enjoy it.

She was such a unique treasure. Can't get enough of her writing. Wonderful.
