Hi LAsh always make sure you buy Euopean DS games for your DSi as it is easy to get DS games from AMERICA which work frine on the original DS and DSlite but not the DSi and DSiL. It's a real shame that Nintendo did this because I have approx 6 DS games from America which would be no good for the DSiL. I have a Wii and a Dell PC for surfing the net and my partner has a laptop. I find my DSlite fine as I just wanted it for playing games and it still has Wi-Fi for multiplayer across the world.
I received Mario kart ds game a few days ago after ordering for here, my son has a DSi but i thought the ds games worked in the dsi. We thought best to try the game before giving to our son but when we go into the game is says : An error has occured, please switch off and refer to the manual. On the game card it says EU not UK like all our other games. Can anyone help please??
DS games work fine on any region DSi. The DSi can detect bootleg games unlike older DS's so if the game you have is a bootleg (did you buy it used?) it won't work on DSi. The DSi is region locked, but only games with DSi specific features are affected by this. This should help you spot if your game is pirated: http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2006/06/13/spotting-pirated-nintendo-ds-carts/
Just as a thought, the new Mario Kart 7 which is due out on 2nd December will only work on the Nintendo 3DS NOT the DSI, DS or DSI XL. Just wanted to check that you hadn't meant that...I am also a non technical mum....but learning real fast!!
