Well written with some really great photo's. The author writes without excessive sympathy, but with an understanding and appreciation of an amazing feat of nature. This lived up to my expectations and will remain a book that will be taken care of in years to come.

Butterfly Book 29 May 2011
By Butterfly Sue - Published on Amazon.com

I have many butterfly books, but this one is a keeper. For the price I paid for the book, it was worth obtaining the book for the photography alone. It was well worth adding the book to my butterfly book library.

BUTTERFLIES!! 2 Feb. 2011
By Reglith Lunus - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Yes, butterflies. Color animate, motion contained and controlled, spirituality in a fragile container. There are few combinations of words that accurately describe the wonder butterflies inspire in human beings. Very few of us get to see butterflies swarm, very few of us get to see those jewel bright creatures in their uncontainable splendor, up close and personal. But the lucky b@#%$$ds who made this book are paid to do just this: capture the glory of those four winged dream dancers. And they sure as heck did. This is a book full of spectacular pictures and less than spectacular descriptions. I mean, the writing is not fabulous, but it serves its purpose. The pictures also serve their purpose: to make the writing pale before them. Ingo Arndt and whoever he collaborated with are genius in the photography. It is something that everyone should see before they die, the pictures in this book are so great. Further words are useless, except for these: save up, and buy this book if you love butterflies and their relatives. It is well worth it.
