A Really Smart Phone!, 3 Aug 2008
In response to this blog, I'd say that the N93i is definitely worth the £430. I have owned one since last September (09/07), and it is still my main phone. I love watching movies on it, as it can be twisted into landsacpe mode, and the flash could be used as a torch. The camera is excellent for stills, and though the Nokia N95 has a superior camera, the N93i's optical zoom is very useful so the camera is far more versatile overall. Nokia N93i is like a toy, it is a lot of fun, and I have been a big fan of the Nokia Swivel Screen Phones. The N92 is another one I own and love, but there is something quite classy about the N93i. At time of writing, Nokia have discontinued the hadnset, so if you find one, take good care of it. I broke my first one, and I was sent a refurbished unit recently, but the problem is that it is that due to its scarcity, few technicians in Nokia Care Points would have seen it, let alone have parts to repair one if it gets damaged! I say insure it, and ad some bulk to an already bulky phone by getting a leather pouch. Remember, if it is dropped, its weight will cause it some damage, and susceptible parts include the zoom key (which can easily lose its smoothness), or the joystick on side of the phone. The scratches and scuffs could be avoided for the most part, but this handset loks even cooler with a few dents. Some people seem to like the black variant, but I would say get the silver one. The black model looks way too plasticky, and the front mirror does not complement the black body. It feels as if someone glued too different phones together.
Oh yes, and the music player is brilliant. It is the standard Nokia Nseries music player, but the speaker on this device is awesom, and it is a standout feature. I used this phone throughout the period I was writing my MA Dissertation, and I listened to lots of music on this. Some people prefer stereo speakers on phones, but with a device this small, stereo speakers will not sound too great anyway. The mono speaker on this phone produces some wonderful sounds, and it is great to see all the track info on the outer scren. Speaking of the outer screen, it is really cool as it can tell you if you have had any missed calls, time, and the way it's obscured under the mirror, it is nothing less than super col to see it in operation. The inner screen is also nice and bright, and video caling blues are sure solved with this phone. You can twist this into landscpae mode, put it on a flat surface, and speak with your hands free!
Games are good, acclerometer has a lot of third party apps you could use (be careful not to download anything dodgy) too. This phone will last you a very long time!
Anyway, hope this info has been helpful!!
