I'm really liking this phone. I'm changing over from a HTC Wildfire (which is probably 3-4 years old now) and don't have a lot of experience of smartphones, so this review won't be particularly technical!

Things I like:
- it starts up very quickly
- Word Flow typing and its predictive text are really good - very few errors, esp. compared to what I am used to.
- graphics are very fluid, sliding from one screen to the next is almost pleasurable!
- I like the calendar - easy to use and view.
- it's a Nokia! Always liked the regular Nokia phones - hard-wearing and intuitive to use. I'm pleased Nokia are getting up to speed with Smartphones.
- I like the sound and picture quality when streaming (I've only used over WiFi not mobile internet).

Things I think Nokia/Windows could improve:
- Available Apps. There are a lot of apps out there, but there are a few that I haven't found, e.g. ColorNote (although Office's OneNote is coming in handy as a replacement). Of course, this may not actually be down to Nokia/Windows but the people who actually develop the apps.
- I think the settings menu could be tidied up a little.
- The phone doesn't have a flash...but most photos seem to come out OK. I suppose it depends on the environment, and ultimately, if you are used to a phone that is just a phone, you will still be pleased with the camera. Camera is easy to use.
- Both this phone and the previous smartphone I have used need the phone to be switched on for the alarm to work. I loved the days when I could save battery life by switching the phone off at night yet still knowing the alarm would go off.

Having been converted from a solid Android user since the original release of the SG1 then SG3, and now recently contract upgraded to a Sony Xperia Z2, to a now preferred bought from Amazon Windows Lumia 920. I bought this Lunia 635 phone for my wife - who doesn't know anything outside iPhone! For the price the phone feels good that sits comfortably in the hand and looks good. You get more features at this price point then any Android phone, and comes with an OS and UI that's fluid smooth and without the glitches and annoyances of Android(Yes! I still get them on my SXZ2). This may be a budget phone, but you certainly get build quality(but don't expect the highest Lumia standard) and great simplicity within the interface for a price that would cost double(+) if it was an entry level Android(which are still prone to crashes, jerkyness, glitches, virus..esp lower end phones!). You will have to pay more then twice for the lowest iPhone model!!!! A great phone for people who want a smartphone that's hassle free with nice features and ease of use that's stable with a secured OS at very very reasonable price - then consider Lumia 635(+).

Let me start this review by saying that this phone takes a MICRO SIM. Also, although it has only 8GB storage, it can be expanded through MicroSD cards. I currently have a 64GB card in my phone I purchased through Amazon.
Now, the phone itself looks very much like an iPhone 5c in appearance. It has a slick black front and a very colourful back. Thus can be changed by purchasing different colours that can be snapped on with ease. The volume and power/lock buttons can be used easily if you hold the phone by the left or right hand as they are located just on the right hand side. When I first took the phone out of the box, I was surprised by how light the phone feels. I understand that Microsoft were here to make an affordable phone, but to a certain extent I daresay it feels... "Cheap".
If you want a phone that works with all Microsoft products across the board, that's affordable, stylish, speak and just works. I suggest you buy this phone. You won't regret it... *Unless you want to play "Candy Crush" as that isn't in the store*
It includes alot of apps that allow you to rent/buy movies, music and games from an app store. The Windows software means that you could start watching a movie on the phone, then continue watching it when you get home on your Xbox360/One. You could even write a document at work, save it to your "One Drive" cloud account, then use the phone to alter the document. Your iTunes store downloads can be copied across to the phone, (from your computer), as it converts them beforehand. I love how this phone syncs with any other Microsoft products as well. For example, I can enter something into my calendar on the phone, and it will appear on the tablet ot Windows 8 PC.
The app store is improving.

As someone else posted, once you have tried Windows 8.1, nothing else compares. To me, Android phones are so cluttered, with their multitude of home pages, mix of Android apps and phone manufacturer apps (eg Samsung or Sony apps) with buttons and widgets everywhere and iOS hasn't really changed in 10 years apart from another me-too graphical revamp.

Having used Windows 7 and 8 phones (along with previously iPhones, various Blackberries, a Samsung Galaxy and others), the changes for 8.1 really are impressive and important. They have addressed so many of my concerns. For instance, some phonecalls were inadvertently stopped as the End Call button was at ear level; now it is at the bottom near the mouth so it cannot be touched by accident. Now we have separate volume controls for the phone and apps/music, so if you turn down your music volume your phone is not off too. If you don't like the Haptic feedback (vibration when using the home button or back button), it can be switched off (Settings > Touch) which is a huge improvement. You can have a photo on the home page with invisible tiles so the photo is always showing which is very smart. The camera operating system is improved. You can fit a lot of tiles onto the front page. And Windows is rolling our Cortana, the W8 version of Siri.

So the software is outstanding. Yes the app universe is comparatively small and it needs to keep pace with the App Store and Android store, but it does come with excellent apps (Drive, Maps, News, Photo, Weather, MS Office etc). With this phone you can open and edit Word docs instead of just being able to read them as with iPhones, Blackberries and the like.
