5.0 out of 5 stars Slimmest email phone yet...with a TON of features! 15 April 2010
This is an excellent phone with a huge amount of business (and other) features, and manages to find the right balance of seriousness features and great looks.

First off, the keypad:
Contrary to expectations, the not-so-usual "half QWERTY" keypad is not really all that difficult to use. Yes, initially it feels a bit ackward and takes a while getting used to it, but after just a few days of usage I'm really getting into it - even though I'm much more used to the T9 predictive input on the standard keypad.
The keys are large enough, and thanks to the good implementation of the predictive input, it feels just right.

However if QWERTY is completely not your thing, you might want to try the Nokia E52 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Silver which has the exact same specifications with a standard keypad.

And now the main features:

Email is huge on this phone, and the best thing I liked is how easy it is to set it up: for popular internet services like Yahoo!, Hotmail, Google Mail etc. all you have to do is type in your username & password and it does the rest. The interface is quite nice and you can even view emails in HTML (although in my experience I was only able to send out plain text).
It also supports Microsoft Exchange for corporate accounts but I haven't used it so far so I can't say how good or bad that is.

Chat and IM is supported and you have a ton of services like MSN Messenger etc. One notable ommision is that Skype for Mobile is not supported. But that's not really an issue since dozens of other software out there allow skype calls through them over 3G/HSDPA networks.

The GPS receiver with A-GPS (assisted-GPS) works well.

4.0 out of 5 stars great phone 29 Oct 2009
I like this phone very much. It is very slim and it has a long life battery. I like the keyboard due to the fact that the keys are large enough for my sausage fingers to use. I did not buy the E71 because the buttons were way too small for me. The E55 was the best alternative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nokia E55 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black 23 Jan 2010
Great phone with excellent battery life, large and esponesive keyboard buttons. Only one thing that i don't like that is the Call and End call buttons, they are just not big enough and should be spaced away from others, they're just so akward too press when recieving call while in you're in a rush.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb 16 Oct 2010
I have the phone now a full week and I charged it only once, but used to maximum.

It takes time to get used to the keys, but we keep learning, although is frustrating to start with, still is not a complaint. I love the battery life, is exactly as it should be, lasting and reliable.

The phone is indeed very beautiful, but a masculine design for sure. To break up the masculine lines, I found a case that holds the phone beautifully, stylish, and a bit more girly, so no problems there either.

The seller of the case Memory On The Move, was very helpful before buying the case, but for sure it holds the phone perfectly.

If I would have to buy again a phone, for sure I will buy this model again, I do not care about music, radio, and video on a phone, all I appreciate is a reliable phone with good reception, long life battery, and the extras are a bonus.

Bravo Nokia, I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nokia E55 14 May 2010
Verified Purchase
Very nice neat phone, lightweight. Fairly easy to use and set up for a beginner or someone not used to technology. Pictures are good even though it has less megapixels than some phones. Plenty of apps available for most people. GPS works very well, extremely accurate. Navigation via Ovi maps only used once so far but spot on. If you want more memory buy it straight away before you put apps on as you may lose them in transfer especially those you have bought and there is not much information on changing memory cards in the user manual. Nokia support difficult to access via email although you can ring them with the usual rigmarole. Battery life is very very good, hardly ever seem to have to charge it even when using maps. Nice to get a user manual instead of one on the internet. Very pleased so far.
