Don't know about that other reviewer perhaps, he's having a bad day, lol... Just I cannot for the love of god find any fault with this NOKIA 1616 (SIM FREE) PHONE. (Its Superb) even the Hands FREE has a Wonderful stereo effect....

I was working underneath my car the other day while on "Hands FREE", the phone just sat beside me on the ground. (with perfect reception both ways). 5/5.

Whatever, 'Sim Card' you put in (a part from the 3 network) it will work perfectly...

More important, is the "fabulous (1) week average battery Life..." which is a breeze, saves one having to recharge every other day, (this is much more common with smart-phones with bigger CPU's and much bigger LCD screens, which really drain the battery).

I just was so, impressed with the price I bought another one this morning for an Xmas present to my Girl.

I think Nokia got all the important spec's correct, at the right price point, like I own an 'HTC Desire', so I'm not too fussed if I loose this one, its really just a spare. 'Great reception BTW'.

It's got rubber type gripping at the edges, the Phones fits like a GLOVE in ones hand, it will NOT slip nor slide, its just a Fab Phone at a Fab Price, if you don't need internet, BUY this NOKIA 1616.
+Plus its SIM FREE Which means it never needs unlocked, so you can use, o2, Vodafone, Virgin, T-mobile, Orange, Tesco, etc. and others.!

Thanks for reading...

David.

This is a basic phone, it has no character smiley faces on it, no camera and no facility to add your own ring tones. It does have a torch. Other than that it is a very good quality, very solid and sturdy Nokia mobile. It fits the standard size Nokia charger. If you just want to call and text, the phone is perfect. I bought this for my mum who hates technology and changing phones is always confusing, not with this phone, simple to use with the standard Nokia menu. A great price for a simple phone

I wanted a low cost but reasonable quality phone that could be used for talking and texting. Wasn't bothered about a camera. And this little phone did not disappoint. The price was right. The quality excellent. Because it is SIM free it was easy to set up with a PAYG card. The battery standby time is really good - in fact I cannot find fault with it.

I'd recommend anyone to buy this little gem. Here's hoping Nokia continue to make these things and not be seduced by the Dark Side (fancy gadgets etc!)

Malcolm

Touch screens, ring tones, apps: isn't rampant consumerism depressing?

I recently shunned mounting pressures for an unnecessary smart-phone and instead purchased a - wait for it - mobile phone! That's right, it's all in the name: mobile - and - phone! If that's what you are looking for then this phone should do just fine.

This phone is perfect for texting and making phone calls; it has a large keypad for easy texting and a very simple user interface (my nan has the same phone). Navigating the phone is quick and painless as the menus are logical and well laid out.

The main reason I bought this phone was because I was alarmed by my friend's battery-guzzling smartphones. The iPhone for example, commonly requires charging everyday. This is simply not good enough! You can take the Nokia 1616 away for the weekend and leave the charger at home, you won't need it! Moderate usage of this phone gives me enough battery for a full week. Impressively, you can set a daily alarm and then turn off the phone for even longer battery life; the alarm will sound and then you are given the option to turn the phone on.

Before you get carried away, this is by far the 'perfect' phone!

The first thing is that the keypad is noisy and requires fairly hard pressing! (hopefully both issues will reduce as it becomes further worn in) If you want to text at work for example, anyone within a 5 meter radius will hear you irritatingly tapping away! It's not a big problem but it might be depending on your usage habits/location. It would certainly be tough to text for help during a kidnapping without being noticed, for example!

Another issue is the speaker.

I am delighted with this Nokia mobile. It is ideal for anybody that is an occasional user like me. It is compact,
easy to use and the screen is larger than on my old Nokia. If you are expecting all the pips and squeaks you won't get it, but is great value for money. I would recommend it to anybody looking for an inexpensive, functional
mobile.

I did have problems fitting the sim card. The instructions and diagrams are not great in the users handbook so
of course I inserted the sim in the same way I had in my old mobile. This didn't help and I kept getting the message
'Insert Sim'. I contacted Amazon who were absolutely brilliant and said the phone must be faulty and they would
replace it. The second phone arrived promptly but to my dismay the same thing happened. I took it to a
friendly neighbour who discovered the correct way to insert the sim and the phone worked. I was really pleased
but I would tell you to make sure that you place the sim card under the little metal plate. This is not at all
clear in any of the instructions.

Apart from that I am a very happy bunny. I am also impressed with Amazon. They couldn't have been more helpful
and their staff went beyond the call of duty. It is hard to find companies like that these days. Thank you Amazon.
