Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The game is mostly very good. Bear in mind that this, for the most part, is not a typical sand box game. You can't take your gun out whenever you want (only in certain parts with lots of enemies), you can't just beat anybody up, you're punished for hurting civilians and damaging property, not with cops briefly chasing you, but with your end of mission score.

The main part of the game is solving crimes. You have to figure out who committed a crime and jail them. You do this in two ways, first by looking for clues at the crime scene and second by interviewing suspects and witnesses and using the game's famous truth vs lie system.

- The story is above average for a video game, definitely paying homage to films noir from it's visuals and sound to the ending, even if it is a bit contrived so that you can spend similar amounts of time in each police department. Good backstory through WW2 flashbacks and newspaper stories too.
- The facial graphics are excellent. This was another well known aspect of this game and it's not just a gimmick. They're significantly better than any other video game I have seen (except maybe Heavy Rain) and it's down to the point that you will easily recognise the actors playing the characters.
- Good cast, if you watch Mad Men, plenty of the actors from that show up in cameos as well as the obvious lead role played by Aaron Staton.
- The crime solving aspects are quite original for a big-budget game like this
- Cases are nice length to just dip in and out with

- The game drags on a lot, especially the complete edition which includes all the DLC missions smoothly integrated into the game.
- The acting is sometimes a bit forced.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent noir game experience 9 May 2014

L.A. Noire is a clever way of taking the atmosphere of the noir films of the 1940s and 1950s like "The Maltese Falcon" and "Double Indemnity" and making it in to an elaborate whodunit.

You will star as the young police detective Phelps, who is trying to solve a series of crimes in 1947 Los Angeles, driving around investigating clues and interviewing suspects.

The game bears resemblance to the GTA-series with you driving around in an open world with street crimes and hidden items to find. But what really makes it is this game a classic is the atmosphere, the music, the attention to detail and the acting.

5.0 out of 5 stars LA Noire review 23 April 2014

Firstly I want to start out by saying that I had wanted to get LA Noire for a while since some friends told me about it and I have to say money well spent.

I had to give this game 5 stars due to its overall amazing storyline, great graphics and game play are just a few of the great features that accompany this title. The game although quite complicated for numerous reasons such as what is needed for 100%, the clues that the character needs to find throughout the course of their investigation and the quite difficult interrogations, but despite this it is overall a game that will have the user enjoying every second and will want them wanting more. I had more fun playing this game than I have had playing any other game for some time and I would definitely recommend that you get the DLC as well since it blends seamlessly into the games storyline, so much so in fact that while playing the game you don't even know which of the missions is DLC unless you look it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the sequel 4 Feb. 2014

At least I hope there is a sequel. This is more than your standard "drive around and shoot people" game. Although it does contain car chases and gun fights, most of the game is taken up with looking for clues and questioning people.

The details in the animation of both faces and surroundings is excellent and they have to be, as subtle eye movements and pieces of paper on the street are all part of whether you solve the crime or not. You get really involved in the characters and their stories, and no one is truly good or bad.

This is an excellent game and I really hope there is another one comeing out soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game 17 Jan. 2014

This game has a great story line and it does not play as a typical sandbox like any GTA but that shouldn't be expected as it isn't in Max Payne 3 either. It has the typical element that all Rockstar games have, which is that it's much like a movie which you have the control to play through and is what I really enjoy about Rockstar games. As it is the Complete Edition it has all of the DLCs smoothly integrated into the games intense story line and this also is very convenient as it all comes together. To some it up I really enjoyed this game and would recommend this game to anyone who is fan of Rockstar games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good 16 Jan. 2014

Brilliant game, brilliant graphics.

Only thing I found wrong was the fact that some of the cases were quite repetitive!? Once you have completed the game, you can't switch to open world play to finish the rest of the side missions either, bit weird considering you never have chance to during the game due to always being on a missions..

Good game never the less.
