Product Description

From the Back Cover

Delighting children since 1949, Enid Blyton's classic Noddy tales are full of magic and wonder. Young children love to follow the adventures of Noddy, the little wooden boy, as he makes his way through Toyland. They will laugh as he makes mistakes and learns right from wrong - and have a lot of fun along the way!

Here, in a beautiful edition to treasure forever, are the first five Noddy stories as told by Enid Blyton, with the wonderful original illustrations.

About the Author

Enid Blyton was born in 1897. She is the author of over 700 books for children and creator of a host of legendary characters, including ‘The Famous Five, The Secret Seven’ and, most famously, ‘Noddy’, Big Ears’ and the other inhabitants of Toyland.

Format: Hardcover
The classic presentation of the first five Noddy books is a must for any preschooler's library. The stories make the current TV series seem like a pale imitation. I had all the Noddy books when I was young, and over 50 years later I am delighted to share them with my own preschooler.

My only problem with this volume is that it is advertised as the "original" with Beek's "original drawings". They are not, of course, as they have been very skillfully sanitised with the replacement of "Golly's Garage" by Mr Sparks. As with Tin Tin and any book that reflects the today unacceptable mores of an earlier culture, these alterations are appropriate and inevitable. However, I believe that the publisher should acknowledge the changes and possibly explain why, rather than pretending that the new version is the original! I spent an enjoyable morning comparing (with my mother (82) via Skype) this copy with the rather battered original versions she bought for me in 1954. The changes to the illustrations are truly impressive - you would never know that they have airbrushed over history!
