Manufacturer's Description

NOCS is a Swedish brand formed in 2008 by a couple of guys addicted to Apple products. NOCS was formed because they felt there were no headphones that could match the Apple products in terms of design and performance. NOCS strive to work with the finest materials, such as aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and Kevlar. The NS800 represents the best of both worlds. High fidelity in a super-small stainless steel package. The Balanced Armature with its separate tweeter and woofer is designed for high fidelity. The earphones deliver a precise and detailed sound throughout the entire sonic spectrum, backed by natural bass. Every part, from the stainless steel housing and noise isolating silicone sleeves to the Kevlar reinforced cables have been carefully designed to offer great durability.

tl;dr at the bottom

I have owned expensive IEMs in the past, but they broke a while ago and I've been surviving on <£50 for quite a while now, so I am by no means an expert.
These earphones have had 12 hours of burning in time now so I trust they are at their full capacity to play music. Also burning in isn't proven so I don't know if this makes too much difference anyway.

The earphones themselves come in a well insulated box, so no fears of a damaged item. In the box comes an adapter for aeroplanes and the usual set of silicone earbud tips you put on the monitor. MAJOR PLUS POINT: there are two of each size of earbud tip. Whilst they fit very snugly on the IEMs I'm sure I'll lose one at some point so this is brilliant.
The silicone feels fine in my ear and all three sizes (S, M, L) fit well, I chose the small variety as this seemed to have the best seal. There's also a plastic crocodile clip to attach the cable to your shirt or something, this is detachable and is not on when you open the box.

The monitors are made of brushed stainless steel and the design is such that I'm sure if I hit them with a hammer they would stay in one piece. These guys are not breaking.
The cable is NOT detachable. Doesn't really matter at this price, but it might be worth noting that Shure's SE315 earphones have got detachable cable if you're worried about that. I'm not worried though and it's not a flimsy cable by any means and according to the user manual is "Kevlar reinforced".

These are by far the best in-ear headphones I've owned and would recommend them.
It does feel like you're hearing much more detail in the music - even when I've been on trains and planes.

They are comfortable, and the rubber ear pieces stay in well and block noise very effectively. I've previously had bad experience with the rubber style falling out, not blocking noise and being uncomfortable - however these are better than any foam ones i've used.

Cable noise is bearable - I use them for walking a fair amount. The cables are thin, I hope they hold up over time.
The headphones are solid metal, perhaps a little on the heavy side, but don't normally fall out. I'd much prefer if the cable was detachable as the metal units are definitely built to last.
An L-shaped plug would probably be preferred, but this is no big deal.

The remote works well and is easy to feel for the buttons. I find its square design catches a little on my shirt collar, which is a little annoying. Minor point though.
At this price a 2-year warranty would be better.
Previously I owned some Klipsch S4i-II which I found disappointing in all regards. I had to by new foam inserts as the cable noise and fit were so bad. The NOCS are a step up in every regard - including price of course. I've also owned Shure's in the past but their cables don't last long (good warranty though, as they need it), and their iphone-remote policy seems insane to me (extra £50 for a cable, no chance to get inclusive deal).

All in all I'd recommend these NOCS-800s. Website reviews I've seen on the web seem to back this up too.

I've owned these for a few weeks now and I'm very impressed with their weight (light but feel very premium), audio quality (just right for me, but less bassy than some of the 'headline big-bass' earphones) and ear-fit.

On weight, the cable is light and doesn't drag too much on clothing for me. The ear pieces themselves feel very high quality - I love their solidity.

The ear-fit is brilliant - the medium-size silicones fit me perfectly and have never fallen out. I previously owned some Klipsch S4i earphones and was forever pushing them back into my ear - none of that here.

One slight down side for me is that the cables could be slightly more 'tangle-free' - they do tend to tangle more than other headphones I've had, although they don't get into tight knots light some of the cheaper ones. However, given that the cables are light, don't rub too much and are quite flexible so they don't cause the earpieces to pop out of your ears when you thread them under clothes, then I'm happy.

I used them for several months. They stopped playing QUICKLY. I got them as a gift that is why I didn't have a receipt. The customer service simply ignored me because of that. They lacked in BASS a lot. What a waste of money. Do not buy them! If possible I would gave given them -10 stars

Awesome product 16 Jan. 2013
By JMSky - Published on Amazon.com
I listened to a bunch of high end earphones, Shures, Sennheisers, Ultimate Ears, etc, The guys at Headroom suggested this one since I needed a mic and iPhone controls. Great recommendation. Sound is spectacular - clear, neutral, natural and above all, musical. We all hear differently, but I seriously doubt vast majority of folks wouldn't find this somewhere between very good to awesome. Perfect for work and on the go.

Things to keep in mind when you research/consider these:
- there's a newer version 2 that was launched in May 2012 and fixed some of the initial criticisms re: lean & bright sound
- like many higher end products, they need 2-3 days of break-in (I always wonder how many reviewers really have the patience to do this before penning their masterpieces by their deadlines!)
- these are really small! to me, they're light and comfortable. i guess large ears could have some fit issues

you can get $30 headphones and they are better, trust me I even burned them in and they still sound the same. You are better off getting something else!
