Product Description

Synopsis

Young Anna McIntyre's charm, vivacity and beauty have won her many friends in the rural community where she lives. She is loved by all except by her father Roderick. She longs to escape her oppressive life, then Lady Pandora Noble asks her to be her companion.

From the Back Cover

Despite a traumatic childhood, young Anna McIntyre's indomitable spirit has won her many friends in the Argyllshire village where she lives. She is liked by everyone, especially by Lady Pandora of the Big House, who sees her young self in this lively girl, and by her nephew Peter, who falls deeply in love with Anna. However, the person who should be closest to her resents her deeply, for reasons she cannot understand…

Roderick McIntyre, her father, is a tyrant, with an insatiable taste for women and a determination to crush Anna's spirit. And when a surprise offer promises her the freedom she's yearned for, Roderick, too, sees his chance – to fulfil an enduring passion – and to shatter Anna's dreams forever. But Roderick has not counted on the courage of his only daughter, nor on the many enemies he had made in Leannachoran, enemies waiting for revenge…

"A poignant tale of love lost and found by an author who has won a huge audience for her warm, absorbing tales of ordinary folk"
ANNABEL

Light easy reading 1 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I loved this book and have searched for the following two books for quite some time. They are ever so expensive here in the states but I liked the Beginnings so much I continued to look.. C.M. Fraser has been added to my list of favorite Authors, right up there with C. Cookson. Well written, easy reading. I'm hoping to add more of her books to my library ..

good but a bit on the darker side 7 July 1998
By BethPanda@compuserve.com - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is the first of another series by Fraser and while it has the same interest level of the Rhenna series, it is darker than the others. When I finished reading it, I wanted to read the others, if not for the story, to know that there is hope for the characters.
