Fiona Goble, author of Knit Your Own Royal Wedding, has now turned her attention to all creatures great and small. As well as a beautifully illustrated retelling of the bible story, the book also contains patterns for Noah, his wife and 15 pairs of animals, from tiny mice to majestic giraffes. Once you've made them all, set them out in front of the fold-out ark template included. Order from Telegraph Bookshop, 0844 873 0316 www.books.telegraph.co.uk --Let's Knit November 2011

You're sure to know Fiona Goble's designs from her bestselling Knit Your Own Royal Wedding. This new book features more of her figures that are packed with personality, this time in the guise of Noah, his wife, and a pair of every animal you can think of! --The Knitter Issue 39

Sing in the rain....with a delightful life-saving captain and his entourage. Fiona Goble's Noah's Knits (£9.99, pb, ivypress.co.uk) features animals two-by-two, a souwester-weating Noah and even a Mrs Noah. --Simply Knitting January 2012

Knit two by two: the author of Knit Your Own Royal Wedding (News, 18 March) Fiona Goble, with Ivy Press's creative team, has now come up with Noah's Knits: The story of Noah's ark with 16 knitted project. The book includes "easy-to-follow patterns" for Noah, Mrs Noah, and 14 pairs of animals; illustrated instructions for basic knitting techniques and finishing touches; a fold-out ark with opening doors and a ramp "for you to display your knitted menagerie"; and the story of the flood and Noah's ark told in full, with illustrations. There is even a little background information about each of the species to be knitted. --Church Times 16 December 2011

Another instant classic from Fiona Goble, this time tackling Noah's menagerie, crammed together, two by two, on his infamous Ark (which is ingeniously included as a card pull-out at the back!). They're all here, from giraffes to crocodiles, penguins to zebras plus of course Noah, Mrs Noah and their wet weather gear. The story is definately written for children, each animal has it s own fact box, and the knits are pretty easy to make so parents looking to combine the pleasures of reding to and playing with their children all at once will find it all here. --Knitting Magazine December 2011

I bought this for a friend who is an avid knitter and who loves making figures. She already had 'Royal Wedding' and had knitted that so knew what to expect. Be warned - although it is a fun book and the figures are good, there are errors. Being an experienced knitter she was able to tweak the patterns slightly and make them work. Also, unlike Jean Greenhowe, Fiona Goble usually just says to add the eyes and mouth etc. JG gives precise instructions as to how and where for everything. FG take note. A lovely book but not necessarily for a novice knitter. Useful to have to dip into as well if you just want, for example, a giraffe.

After GREAT success with Fiona's last book, 'knit the Royal Wedding', I couldnt wait for this one to be published, and it's every bit as good as the last. From Mr Noah in his yellow sou'wester and wellies (and Mrs Noah in her rain cape) to 14 different (and some quite unexpected) species of animal. Elephants, lions, monkeys, tigers, giraffes, zebras, pigs I kind of expected. But crocodiles, polar bears, penguins, rabbits, tortoises and goats (love the beard on the he-goat!) less so. And of course there's a raven and a dove and a cut-out cardboard ark at the back. It's very simple knitting but very effective. Along with the patterns, Fiona tells the story of Noah so you could read this to a young recipient of the toys. Get knitting in time for Christmas!
I would just say that the animals are fairly big eg the polar bear is 17 cm nose to tail. So if you knitted all 28 critters plus the humans it would be a largeish gift!
