Brutal... there's simply no other word for it, 16 Jun 2008
I caught these guys on tour with the awesome Cancer Bats recently, but didn't pick up the album till a couple of weeks later. It took me that long to get my hearing back. Their recorded output - arguably, more so on this occasion than previously - just about matches the sheer, uncompromising brutality of their live set and No Tears for the Creatures is quite possibly the heaviest thing you'll hear all year. It's by no means an easy album to listen to, but there's a palapable sense of groove underpinning their sonic sh*tstorm that marks them out from other bands of this ilk. To boot, these guys are genuinely sound, down-to-earth chaps, making them exactly the sort of band British fans should be supporting... Just don't forget your earplugs if you go and see 'em live!

the end is here , 10 Nov 2008
Johnny truant are set to split,i think it happens in december of this year, this album was released in june of this year, this album isnt that good, they have reasons unbeknown to me for their split, the lack of interest in this could well be one.
Johnny truant burst into the uk scene a few years ago and to my ears they sounded solid and pretty good!, despite sounding like many bands, there was something in them that told me that they could make it.
The years have passed and they fell to the wayside, limited hype was bounced about prior to this release and some positive reviews followed,i bought this expecting plenty and found myself admiring its energy but felt the songs werent instant nor memorable, several listens later and the same followed, nothing really, their end wasnt forecast in my mind but i sensed they did themselves no favour with this,a shame!

greatly missed, 5 Jan 2009
looking back, this is easily one of my favourite albums of the past year, though unfortunately i bought it one week before the band announced they were splitting, which was a bit of a kick in the teeth. yet another great homegrown band falls through.
anyway, album review! the first 4 tracks are pretty much consistently great, really brutal stuff. for some reason i feel the album lags a bit in the middle, those few songs just dont really grab my attention, except the chugging 'dead ships sinking'. but it really gets going again by the final 2 tracks, which are just amazing. on hearing the closing screams on 'weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth' remind me just how much i'm going to miss Johnny Truant.
