This dark Eighties comedy was a rare foray onto the big screen by Alan Bleasdale. Many of his regulars, including both Bernard Hill and Michael Angelis from Boys From The Black Stuff, are present, and there is a memorable cameo from Elvis Costello as a hapless magician.
The plot revolves around a chaotic night at a club, as the new manager comes to realise that acts and events have been booked by his predecessor specifically to sabotage his first night.
This film was surely the inspiration for Peter Kay's television series Phoenix Nights, and is long overdue a re-release.
