Book Description

A vacation fling. No complications. No connections. And no regrets.

Trauma surgeon Jae Sun Kim has just lost the job he wanted more than anything else in his life. Looking for a way to hit the reset button, he takes a scuba vacation. He didn’t plan on seasickness, or a dive master who is sex-on-the-beach personified.

Shane McCormack’s tendency to drift away from complicated situations has landed him a job as a dive master in Belize, which isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. But with the big three-oh looming, asking his parents to bail him out again isn’t an option. The job isn’t without its perks, though, and as soon as he figures a way to keep that hot but arrogant ass of a doctor from tossing his cookies over the side of the boat, he plans to flirt the control freak out of his brittle shell.

The close quarters on the ship generate more heat than either expects, but a vacation fling is all that’s in the plans. An unexpected adventure leaves them changed in ways that make it impossible to go back to their old lives. The risks they’ll both have to take could leave them with nothing but more scars, or the best souvenir of all.

3.0 out of 5 stars All at Sea 31 Mar. 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
No Souvenirs is a well researched gay story .... the descriptions of scuba diving, medical emergencies and yes the all pervasive sex show KA Mitchell's attention to detail..... but the storyline and the characters didn't capture my attention in the way some of her other writings have done - Chasing Smoke for instance.
Did I find the story compelling? ..... not really, I guess I found Jae Sun Kim, one of the two main characters really hard work and at times the story seemed to skip over vital detail - just how, for instance, did the dive boat come to leave two guys under water so consigning them to probable death?
Would I re-read the book - yes, if only to see why I didn't relate to it in the way I usually do
And the sex? Well sex came so fast that I found it lost its freshness rather like most intimate gay sex films.
BUT then you may love 'No Souvenirs' from page 1..... if so great!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, sweet and romantic. 9 Aug. 2011
By Steve
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Korean American surgeon Kim, who has just lost the chance of promotion, goes on a scuba diving holiday off Belize where he finds himself sharing a cabin with divemaster Shane. The two men appear to dislike each other at first sight but physical attraction soon overcomes inhibitions and the two start a passionate (and very sexy) on-board affair. Kim is not into friendship (for reasons that only become clear at the end of the book) and Shane does not stick at anything much. But a life-threatening drama changes the feelings the two men have for each other even though neither can express what that change means for the future of their relationship.
This is familiar K A Mitchell territory. The sex is hot, the guys are cute, the plot and background are well drawn. Above all, Mitchell creates characters who are not just hugely seductive but very appealing as well. Mitchell makes you want the happy-ever-after ending, and makes you wait to the last page before you get it.

Interesting , unusual characters. Unusual setting, very convincing and different. Sexy and enjoyable- author seems to really have done some serious research which made the characters' roles so believable. THOROUGHLY enjoyed the book as a plain old romance , as well .

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, not the best from this author 22 Sept. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Books my Mitchell have been reasonably good to date, some better than others, this one however just did not seem to live up to previous expectations.

Predictable plot and basic characters, was looking for more, just did not happen
