Suspense and romance in a hot Texas town 30 April 2003
By Sharon Galligar Chance - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
If you are looking for a book with a chilling suspensful story and a great romance, you need look no further than this great new novel by Helen R. Myers.
Life has stung Bay Butler so many times, she doesn't seem to feel its bite any more. Convicted of killing her best friend and business partner, a crime she didn't commit, Bay has spent six long, horrifying years in Texas' Gatesville Women's Prison. So when her release and pardon is arranged by Madeline Ridgeway, a former client, Bay is skeptical and apprehensive, feeling that something about the woman's generosity is suspect. One isn't just sprung from prison on the whim of a wealthy woman. What does Madeline Ridgeway want from Bay?
Madeline Ridgeway does have an agenda in mind for Bay Butler. By offering Bay a new chance at life, the outward motive behind the do-gooder's mission seems to be to draw attention to the religious ministry she is deeply involved in. But an alternative purpose is soon revealed as Bay delves deeper into the real reason Ridgeway had arranged her release from prison.
Bay finds assistance in her search for the truth in the form of Jack Burke, the detective who arrested her for murder six years earlier. Jack has always felt that the case against Bay wasn't handled right, and he vows to help her uncover the truth, even if it means losing his job in the process.
As Bay and Jack work together to find out what Madeline Ridgeway is up to, they soon finds themselves becoming attracted to one another. But they also wonder if their tenuous relationship could survive the investigation into Bay's past.
In her latest book, "No Sanctuary," suspense writer Helen R. Myers once again takes her readers on a trip to small town Texas, where everyone knows everyone else's business and many of their secrets as well. This novel is an exquisite mix of suspenseful mystery with a tasteful dash of romance. The heroine is strong and independent, and who is a talented metalworker, an unusual occupation for woman. The hero is an ethical, caring man who struggles with the bureaucratical and corrupt ranks of the police department in order to clear the name of the woman he loves.
Helen Myers is a skillful storyteller, and this novel is testament to her talent. Readers will be enthralled with this story until the twisting, turning end.
Good suspense read. 9 May 2004
By Elaine C McTyer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
This is a good book. Not one of the best, but very entertaining. Bay Butler has spent 6 years in prison for a murder she didn't commit.
As she was railroaded into prison, she is finagled out. The detective who handled her case, is surprised to see her out. However, HE has always thought she was innocent.
You are pretty sure who is involved in the conspiracy, from the start. You don't find out why until a little before the end. There are strong characters but I found the story a little to pat.
But it will hold your attention, and fill some time. I did enjoy reading this book. But don't look for any surprise ending.
Myers At Her Best!! 25 Nov. 2003

I LOVED this newest mystery/suspense! Ms. Myers has spun a clever, edge-of-your-seat thriller. Great characers and a plot that keeps you riveted is my kind of read. Can't wait to see what unique story she comes up with next. I guarantee each one is different. What a talented writer!

No Sanctuary 27 April 2004
By A.E.B. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
"No Sanctuary" opens with a new opportunity for Bay Butler to start her life over after being wrongfully accused of murder and sent to prison. She's fiercly independent, which does not suit her mysterious benefactor, a wealthy matron with a hidden agenda. Toss in a cop who has always had his doubts of Bay's guilt, and you have a mystery on your hands. Who is responsible for Bay's being sent to prison? And, what do they want from her now?

The book was okay, but I wasn't able to become attached to the characters.

Good romantic suspense! 4 Aug. 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Bay Butler's character grabs you from the start because she has spent six miserable years in prison for a crime she didn't commit. And the detective who helped put her there has suffered right along with her because he came to realize before the trial was even over that Bay was innocent. This story couldn't miss.
I recommend it.
