Product Description

Ten stories of BDSM, submission, and service set in the secret world of Laura Antoniou's Marketplace. The Marketplace has fans all over the world, and Antoniou invited them to come play in her fictional sandbox/dungeon. Numbered among those fans happen to be some of the top erotica and alternative sexuality writers in the world, including D.L. King, Sassafras Lowrey, and Elizabeth Schechter.

The full slate of writers contributing to NO SAFEWORDS runs the gamut of award-winning authors to bright-eyed new voices, as creator Laura Antoniou explains in her introduction: "As the saying goes, 'blessed are those who embellish the tale.' So here is the Marketplace, as seen through other eyes. There are some stories that show the world exactly as I created it, and some that push my boundaries a tad. There is romance and strife, glee and despair. There is hot sex, of course, but there's also humor and melodrama. Just the way I like it.

There were some surprises for me! I was delighted to find several female dominant/male submissive stories, especially since my examples of those relationships tend to be supporting, rather than main characters. I was also pleased by the writers who weren't afraid to go a little dark; a collection of stories all about slaves misbehaving in mildly inconvenient ways and getting fantastically, erotically punished would have been tiresome.

So whether you want a rollicking Victorian flavored tale of adventure and romance or a modern, sexy welcome to a new home for a familiar character, you will find flavors here to tempt or satisfy your tastes. Return for more time travel to a world where the language we so casually use to describe our tastes doesn't even exist, but where longing for a ritualized order and discipline and a sense of belonging transcends words, and gets expressed in the rich metaphor—and reality—of a garden.

Then swerve away from romance to feel the terror of a slave newly sold to an owner who represents their worst nightmare, whether because of demographics or the enormous challenge of a language barrier.

Here, you can get into the reflection of a trainer's long career or the grief and anguish of a new owner confronted with an inherited house full of property she didn't choose. Or, watch how even the jaded, experienced ways of the Marketplace aware people become awkward in that most awkward of adult challenges—a marriage proposal.

Get a glimpse into the rarefied and formal household of an owner/spotter, and then take a detour to the desolate history of a young genderqueer punk fresh from the streets, confronted with the most iconic of Marketplace characters.

All of this—a synthesis of my imagination and theirs, fed by culture, fantasy, fairy tales and fears. All fiction is, in a way, fan fiction. I am sorry it took so long for me to see this and to open myself to the interesting sensations—you might call it edge-play—in giving people access to my favorite victims. But better late than never!"

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic addition to the Marketplace Universe 28 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book-as a big fan of Laura's Marketplace books I was unsure what to expect with regards the quality of this anthology of Fan fiction. While the short stories that ran throughout the Academy were penned by a highly trusted cabal of proven writers, I was nervous whether this collection would match up.

Frankly I was blown away, the depth of characterisation and the potent hotness of the stories made me feel as though they'd been written by the creator of the Marketplace herself. Written from a broad array of perspectives (slaves, Owners, Trainers, ex-Marketplace) the stories capture what I love most about the Original series- diverse eroticism combined with a deep sense of vocation that is connected to authentic power-exchange relationships. Transcendent smut most definitely!

2013 promises to be a big year for Laura with "The Killer Wore Leather" out in March and the long-awaited "The Inheritor" due out towards the end of the year. Until then this book provides a more than ample appetizer!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent addition to the series 23 Feb 2013

Laura Antoniou's 'Marketplace' is such a rich and thought-provoking idea that reading her books always makes me ponder new scenarios or just how this or that might work. It seems I'm not alone - this collection is the result of some very accomplished writers doing just that.

I had expected it to be a pleasant stopgap while waiting for Book 6 in the main series, but it's a great book in its own right. The writers have their individual voices, yet enough similarity to Ms Antoniou's style that the difference isn't jarring. There are some absolutely golden moments: Ms Pauline's turns of phrase; Evan's choice of reward; the delicious idea of buying slave for the sole purpose that Oliver is put to. And S. Lowry got Chris Parker spot on - that made me happy.

If you're already a follower of the Marketplace, I thoroughly recommend 'No Safewords'. If you're new to it, or to BDSM erotica in general, this is an excellent place to start. While it's about a fictional organisation, the emotions, sensations and motivations depicted are remarkably true to life. If you have even a little bit of kink in your wiring, it will speak to you and inspire you. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding... 20 Jan 2013
By Ben B - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A worthy edition to the Marketplace mythos! I've been a fan of Laura Antoniou for years, ever since I discovered the Marketplace books. Now she's opened up her universe to ten other authors to explore their interpretations of the Marketplace...and the results are fantastic. Like Laura, these ten authors have successfully blended hot action with thoughtful character development and poltting...a rarity for erotica. If you've ever read any of the original Marketplace novels, buy this...if you haven't, buy it anyway, and then read the Marketplace novels after you get hooked on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent BDSM fiction 26 Feb 2014
By Adam S - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The Marketplace is one of the more "realistic" SM worlds out there. Instead of flashy porn stars living fabulous lives, it has real people with real problems and real issues adjusting to the reality of what they've either bought into or sold themselves into. For example, this book includes at least one story of a woman wrestling with issues that go beyond simple need to the social impact of her need to submit, due to her family's history with historical slavery. This is not just simple SM jerk-off porn. It is a story about a real person, with a real history, participating willingly in the SM world.

Nearly all of the stories take the same approach - a real person or real people dealing with the meaning of the Marketplace and how their own histories and backgrounds intersect with it. This book takes Antoniou's richly drawn world and shows us some of its backstage realities. These writers know what they're doing; they know what their characters would do in this world and they know exactly how to draw them, not larger than life, but realistically. That realistic aspect is one of the main draws for me to the Marketplace series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty and diverse 2 April 2013

This collection of Marketplace inspired power and sensuality stories have something for everyone. It's a skittles bag of stories, from completely insider humor based on Laura Antonious Marketplace books to Sheherezadesque 1000 nights of erotic tales. I personally enjoyed the very last story despite myself. It was brutal but beautiful. It's an easy read, and don't be discouraged if you don't like a story. The next one is bound to be completely different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect to hold me over... 27 Feb 2014
By Angel - Published on Amazon.com

I was intrigued by the idea, but honestly not sure if fan fiction would be up to the standard that I've come to expect from Laura Antoniou. I was pleasantly surprised. Not all the stories were my favorite, but all worked in the milieu of the Marketplace. And it was a great glimpse back into the world that anyone who's read the first five books will appreciate while waiting not so patiently for book six.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yum! 26 Feb 2014
By Alex Bettencourt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm a huge Marketplace fan and proselytizer--when someone asks for erotic fiction or BDSM-themed fiction that is smart, sexy, and more realistic, Laura's books are the first things that I recommend. I was thrilled when she released this anthology because it gave me different windows on the Marketplace world by people who were just as invested in the books as I have found myself. There's not a disappointing read in the book and I'm excited to see if Laura works anything from those story lines into her upcoming Marketplace novels!

Excellent read and a good introduction to the Marketplace if you haven't already been sucked in.
