Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

No Name Face is an auspicious debut from Lifehouse, a band seemingly made to rule the airwaves. The insinuating melodies that mark their radio-friendly sound are not unlike those of Matchbox Twenty in their softer moments. From the first single, "Hanging by a Moment", to the emotive and uplifting "Quasimodo" and the wonderful "Trying" (think Crowded House at their lilting best), Lifehouse are self-possessed and focused. Young singer-songwriter Jason Wade (the son of two ministers) imbues Lifehouse's vibe with a spiritual quality that's never heavy-handed, delivering the goods with the authority of an experienced troubadour. No Name Face may be a first offering from a young band, but it looks to signal the beginning of an estimable career. --Katherine Turman

An outstanding debut! 10 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Lifehouse's debut album 'No Name Face' will fit perfectly into anyone's record collection. It's comprised of 12 powerful and emotional songs, which are helped by the sultry voice of Jason Wade, the band's 21-year-old singer/songwriter. While 'Hanging By A Moment' may be Lifehouse's breakthrough single, the other songs on this album should not be overlooked. Stand out tracks include the mellow 'Sick Cycle Carousel', the thought provoking 'Simon' and the fast paced 'Quasimodo'. However, the album's crowning piece is the last track 'Everything'. With beautifully written lyrics and a break-out mid-song that is as powerful as it is enchanting, it ends the album perfectly and gives the impression of a band that knows their music -- and executes it extremely well. Their music is timeless and I will always love this disc!

Unbelievable 8 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I first heard 'Hanging By A Moment' in America, and as soon as i came back to England i went out and bought the album. The first time i listened to the album i enjoyed it, but as i listened again and again i came to LOVE it. it's probably the only one of my CDs (aside from matchbox 20) on which i like every single song.

it's difficult to say which songs are best as they are all so great. for a slightly rock feel, go for 'Quasimodo', 'Unknown' and 'Somebody else's song'. The more matchbox 20 style, singalong chorusy ones are 'sick cycle carousel' and 'cling and clatter', and 'trying' and 'breathing' are the really chilled out songs.

i guess my favourite song on the whole album would have to be 'somwehere in between', with its totally mellow atmosphere and heart-wrenching tune & lyrics.

If you never listen to this album you will be missing out on some of the most touching and emotive songs ever. BUY IT.

Give them a chance 4 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I too first listened to this album about 8 months ago. I didn't think much of it at first, it didn't really strike me as anything special. But give it a chance and it will really grow on you. I don't usually write reviews but I just had to say something about Lifehouse- they're becoming increasingly popular in America now, but virtually unknown in England!

Lifehouse is often compared with Matchbox and the like, but what they bring is a unique and yet totally accessible sound. My personal favourites on this album are Sick Cycle Carousel, Breathing, Somewhere In Between and Only One, though I love the whole album I hasten to add.

No review will do this album justice. It's one of those gems you very rarely get. Trust me, you don't want to miss this one.
