Biography

There’s something about the kind of potent rock and roll fury that Airbourne cranks out, all cylinders firing, that makes you want to chug a beer straight down your throat and punch the air as though it’d touched your wife inappropriately. It sounds crude, we admit. But that’s the thing about these Aussie pub rock rebels. Their music, like new album No Guts. No Glory., are ... Read more in Amazon's Airbourne Store

Product Description

BBC Review

The hotly-anticipated follow-up to Airbourne’s barnstorming 2007 debut does not disappoint. It should also come as no surprise to anyone that No Guts. No Glory. is Runnin’ Wild part two. After all, the Aussie rockers set out their stall in considerable style, and it’s way too early to be moving the merchandise up-market. In the world of hard rock and heavy metal, originality is not particularly prized. The real treasure lies in forging a fistful of the hoariest old clichés into glorious, mind-blowing, max-volume gold. It’s harder than it sounds, but these guys have it down.

Rough, tough and tighter than spray-on jeans, the bad lads from Warrnambool, Victoria are taking the explosive, in-your-face energy of fellow countrymen AC/DC and Rose Tattoo to a new generation. Their fusion of rock, blues and boogie is instantly infectious, and if preserving the past is their sole purpose, it’s a noble one.

Delivering cheap thrills with no questions asked, No Guts. No Glory. is an exuberant celebration of youthful verve, vitality and, inevitably, rebellion. No Way But the Hard Way, Blonde, Bad and Beautiful, Back on the Bottle: the song titles alone tell booze-drenched and sometimes sordid tales of hard rockin’, hard drinking and generally having nothing left to lose. Musically, it’s always all and never nothing. Bottom of the Well is the closest they ever come to a change of pace, and it’s no ballad.

Fronted by lovable lunatic Joel O'Keeffe, Airbourne’s success has largely been built on their bulldozing live show. The stage is their natural habitat, where they reign supreme amid a tantalizing scent of danger. No great shock, then, that they’ve yet to find a way to bottle the magic for mass consumption. This raucous collection of three-minute knee-tremblers, however, is as close as it gets. Swilling whiskey and spitting gravel, over-driven and over here, this is aural Prozac for the 21st century. --Greg Moffitt

CD Description

No Guts. No Glory. is the second album from hard rocking Aussies Airbourne, and includes the single "Get Busy Livin'". Inspired by the likes of Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Angel City, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, and Motorhead, Airbourne have been waving the rock and roll flag for Australia since 2003's debut album, "Runnin' Wild".

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine album but... 9 Mar 2010

Make no mistake this is a fine, energetic, lively and fun album. The problem is you know exactly what you are going to get so that by the end, and this is more true of the deluxe edition, it all sort of blends into one conglomorate of noise. It's a good noise mind you but I will be intrigued as to what this band can do for their third album because they have surely mined this seam to death.

Some of the other reviewers are obviously quite correct with the AC/DC comparisons and the band are more than willing to admit this, but I detect more than a little influence of Slade with this lot especially with the vocals.

So all in all this is fine as far as it goes but don't listen to this if you expect subtlety or new ideas.

4.0 out of 5 stars no guts,no glory,no growth either! 7 Mar 2010

well done amazon ordered this a few days ago and it arrives 3 days prior to official released, superb.I have had a couple of days to listen and that it is a good album is not in question, however its not as good as the debut and most songs are basically interchangeable.

Airbourne have went lock stock and barrel for the Ac/Dc comparisons ,right down to the Angus Young guitar solo's.When does immitation become parody?Airbourne really need to branch out and develop their own sound or they will lose momentum

Pretty much every song follows the same pattern, booming drums, sing along chorus, emulating mid 70's Ac/Dc and after a while it becomes samey, there are no 'Ride On's here,at times there is the whiff of one trick pony.

If you want no frills rock n roll then this is the disc for you,it is great but i was hoping for more, some progression,i like Airbourne but it would be a pity if the disappear amid criticism that they dont have their own style.their next album really has to take some chances

2.0 out of 5 stars No guts.............no songs!!!! 11 Jun 2010
Format:Audio CD
I absolutely loved their debut full length album 'Runnin' Wild' and was really looking forward to this, but oh dear.............

I have given the album time in the hope it would grow on me, but it hasn't.

Too many of the tracks sound exactly the same, with none of the catchiness of the tracks from the debut, even the singles from this album are weak.

Let's hope they can come back from this and deliver a cracking third album.
