No Gun for Asmir/Asmir in Vienna

Based on a true story of a young refugee (Asmir) and his family moving from their beautiful home Sarajevo, where war has broken out, to peaceful Vienna in Germany. Book 1 (No Gun for Asmir) is about Asmirs family moving from Sarajevo and away from their father Muris, crossing lots of country borders, to Vienna, Germany. Book 2 (Asmir in Vienna) is about Asmirs new life as a refugee in Germany. Starting a German school, learning German and receiving his very own special book (No Gun for Asmir) that was published world wide.
The Asmir books are a great read for ages 11-15, very moving at sometimes and "a story of courage you will never forget" (as quoted on 'No Gun for Asmir').

This book is about Asmir who is a Yugoslavian. He was born in Sarajevo but he comes from Bosnia, Herzegovina. The book is based on a true story about Asmir and his family who are forced to leave Sarajevo because of the civil war. They leave Sarajevo to go to Belgrade which is then followed by a long car trip to go to Vienna. Asmir's father Muris is left behind in Sarajevo which causes Asmir to feel very upset throughout the story. Asmir travels with Mirsada, (his mother) Eldar, (his baby brother) Aunt Melita, (Mirsada's sister) Uncle Miroslav (Melita's husband) and Asmir's grandmother. (Mirsada and Melita's mother) they find a life in Vienna but to get there, there was many obstacles
No gun for Asmir is a book that is suitable for 10-15 year olds. Any younger and it would be too horrific, any older and it would it would be boring.
I think that No Gun for Asmir is a very good book. In some places you might get bored, but it is still a great story that everyone will enjoy.

there is fighting in bosnia herzeyovie. asmir's family has to more things happen. his family go to austria it is really beautiful, and they stayed austria, learn austria's language, found work there, this book talk about asmir's family's hardship, after ward his his family has good life. I think this book is suitable for children aged 8-14 years.
