Book Description

The myriad misfortunes of Leeds United Football Club are entertainingly revisited by writer and diehard fan Gary Edwards, with anecdotes and commentary from various Leeds greats

Product Description

Between 1964 and 1992, Leeds United won 11 fabulous trophies, but the team were runners-up just as often. They missed out on many more titles and cups, not least club football's greatest prize, the European Cup, in 1975.

In No Glossing Over It, lifelong Leeds United fan Gary Edwards reveals why the club has dramatically lost out on victory in many of these competitions and how it has been the victim of a pattern of serial abuse by the footballing authorities - most recently seen in the unprecedented 15-point sanction meted out at the start of the 2007-08 season.

Featuring the views of former Leeds players and managers, as well as top-flight referees and die-hard fans, No Glossing Over It examines the injustices that have befallen Leeds United and sheds new light on the shocking events that have long rankled with the club's supporters.

The history of Leeds United is an illustrious one and under the Revie regime Leeds United had their most successful period in their history, however they could and should have won so much more. This book shows the history of Leeds United and how they were on several occasions robbed. Edwards in depth look into the European cup final in Paris, to other wrong doings such as the West Brom offside goal and other incidents. After spending a lot of time reading into the history of Leeds United I was aware of all the moments however it is very good at introducing the history for the new era of Leeds fans. Edwards has sources that for the first time really brought the stories to life. Many non Leeds fans may look at this book and think, its just sour grapes and I have to admit before reading it might have been a bit bitter but I was proven very wrong. The book makes references from the Risdale era and up to the 2010-11 season. Edwards does it again with a fantastic book, Leeds fan will live to love the book although it is a book that makes you angry at the injustice are club has suffered. However if you want the facts from the heat of Leeds United get this book and find out more about our history, it will create many emotions but the main one is that its a great thing to a be a Leeds fan!

The Truth Uncovered 5 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is perfect. it exposes all the injustices dealt to leeds united over the past century, the ridiculous 15 point deduction which leeds overturned in style however, no-one gave leeds any credit, and it tells the tale of the tactical genius and masterclass manager Don Revie and leeds' cruel fall from grace around 2002/2003. this is an absaloute must read for all leeds utd fans, and all fair football fans.

Having read Gary's previous books, this took a different line as it was all about LUFC. I couldn't put it down and thought his research was as thorough as anything I have ever read. A must for all football fans, and not just fans of Leeds United.
