Great book for Jim and well written with plenty of gags. The only problem is with the book however centres on the fact that most of these jokes feature on his current tour, which follows the same theme of his Yewtree hell.

As a result, after seeing the show, reading this seems rather stale and familiar compared to if I had been not informed at one of his shows.

If you're a fan of Jim it really is a must buy, but for everyone else, the focus on Jim's self may not be of much wider interest to many.

We've booked to see Jim Davidson in January 2015. I've just finished his book and if we thought he was guilty we'd have gone no where near him. I know from personal experience what he went through and your almost destroyed by the events. But, like Jim, I was innocent and proved it. I hope those who tried to destroy Jim and me, incidentally, rot in hell for what they've tried to do to us. But let's move on, Jim, to a better place. Well worth five stars everybody. You won't be disappointed.

Jim gives a very candid account of the events that nearly ruined his career and his life like most people in the limelight he has a over inflated opinion of his role in the larger scheme of things but I am in no doubt that he went through hell and came out the other side he does wander into the realms of fantasy and seems to believe he was part of the armed forces on occasion but a good account otherwise
I really liked Jim and have seen him live and bought his DVDs until he became a conservative and forgot his roots oh well!
still a likeable man and I felt sorry for him and his family

I grew up with Jim Davidson on in the background as my parents were fans of his, my Dad who is in his 70s had a very similar outlook on life and the same sense of humour however my dad always knew when and where he could get away with cracking jokes when it came to race and sexuality. Back then it was acceptable to make these jokes however in today's day and age it's not and JD has been punished for something that happened in a time when it was acceptable. I really took to JD when he entered the celebrity big brother house, I'm not shy in being open that I am a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of my brother, three of us over a 30 year period and when all this with Saville erupted it soon became apparent a lot of people were making false claims and sadly JD fell into this trap. His come back was a come back like no other, I purchased this book late in the evening and had finished by the following evening. It's a very intimate account of what really happened during operation ewetree. How it effected him emotionally, financially, how the British public automatically assumed he was guilty, theatres pulling any dates scheduled etc and all of this happening before any real investigation had happened. In the book he goes into great detail regarding the methods he used in proving his innocence, he hired private investigators, searched his way thru years of paper work from all of his gigs and travel plans to prove he wasn't even in the country at the time of one claim. He knew he was innocent and put some serious amount of graft in proving so. It's a hard read at times as he tells us in such a way that he makes you feel as though you were right there with him, you feel his pain and emotion but of course this wouldn't be a JD book without that famous wit and humour chucked in!Read more ›

As 2012 draws to a close Jim Davidson is waiting to go on Celebrity Big Brother in an attempt to revive his flagging career, his older brother falls ill, his dog dies and he learns via the press he's being investigated by Operation Yewtree. To make matters worse at the start of the new year, the day before entering the Big Brother house, he ends up in a cell.

Regardless of how you view Davidson it's worth suspending your prejudices and reading this book. First because in parts it's very funny. Second it provides an inside, and quite disturbing, look at a police investigation from the point of view of the accused. Third it will shake your faith in the 'innocent until proven guilty' basis of British justice.

It's written in a rather chippy style which can become a bit wearing and at times it borders on rant. You can almost forgive the latter given that Davidson was faced with some absurd allegations which the police seemed determined to pursue regardless of the facts.

Whether or not there has been an establishment witch hunt in the wake of the Jimmy Savile revelations is open to question. However, this book will certainly make you question the workings of the justice system and - although you may not be persuaded to like him - you'll come away with a new found respect for Jim Davidson.

Despite mixed feelings over Jim. He does tend to put his foot in it at times, but then I guess we all do that. However, he does it in the public eye!
Anyway, I like him for all that. I wish he appeared more often on our TV screens theses days. So having followed his career since the seventies on New Facess,Big Break,Home James, Up the Elephant and Round the Castle through to the Generation Game not to mention his earlier memoirs. So I had to read this. I'm glad he was vindicated from the accusations made against him.
This book, gives a vivid recollection of his coping and battling for justice. We live in difficult times where many household names have been investigated under ' Yewtree'. Some are guilty but a number appear to have been wrongly accused and after having their lives disrupted have to pick up the pieces and move on. This is one such tale. Recommended.
