Review

"Outstanding debut novel with a wonderful South African flavor & flair. A violent world of paramilitary police, African style layers of intrigue, and a mix of cultures brings a special atmosphere to an excellent story, great characters and a wonderful style of rhythm that drives this book forward.

Description

An Action & Adventure Thriller

Before his death, the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi arranged for a vast hoard of gold bullion and many millions in cash to be hidden in the Karoo desert in South Africa
...

A trio of Special Forces cops--A veteran Sergeant, a former army commando, and his two cohorts: a Zulu giant and an expat Russian Spetsnaz operator--wage a ruthless war against a Satanic criminal, a Zimbabwean army colonel, who sets out to steal this fortune for himself.

The book provides unique insights into insider police procedure and the savage reality of the high energy lifestyle of the grindingly poor and the obscenely wealthy inhabitants of the multiracial metropolis of Johannesburg.

The trio's principal adversary is a Zimbabwean colonel who has established a criminal empire based in the black township of Alexandra, where he is fearfully known as uSathane--the Zulu expression for The Devil. uSathane uses black magic and cannibalism--he drinks the blood of raped women--to keep him alive although he is riddled with Aids.

"Casey Christie's debut novel marks the arrival of a new star of the crime thriller genre."

Wow! This is such a good book, I'm totally surprised at how I really really loved this book. Oh yes I was sceptical at first, but I too found the title intriguing and thought come on I give you a go, totally glad I did! A great insight on South Africa Police and terminology and when you read this you will love Michael Night too.
What a book, what an ending and what a wait for the next one?...Soon please!

1.0 out of 5 stars No easy read.
It's easy to see who the influences are for Christie and, as such, its a real pity that his writing style takes their worst excesses to extremes. This book is awful! Read more
