More About the Author

I am a Food Stylist, Writer and Home Economist. I have worked my magic with food in the media for over 16 years in Ireland, the UK and the US. My experience includes ghostwriting, recipe development and food styling for cookbooks and magazines. I have also worked on cookery demonstrations, food shows, tv commercials, packaging, advertising, movies and over 30 cookery programmes.

My food career kicked off in London, where I have worked behind the scenes supporting top celebrity chefs including Jamie Oliver, James Martin and Gordon Ramsay. I have also worked for over 10 years on the internationally broadcast show 'Ready Steady Cook'.

Now back in Ireland, I live in Dublin with my husband and young daughter Pearl (check her out in my book video...she stole the show!). Here, I am a member of the Irish Guild of Food Writers and a regular contributor to BASH magazine as food feature writer and stylist. I work as food stylist for Donal Skehan and with Lorraine Pascale on her cookbooks. I have also worked with Rachel Allen and recent adventures include working with Ina Garten on 'Barefoot Contessa'.

My first solo cookbook, No Bake Baking, shares my passion for baking with easy, oven-free cakes and treats. It was fabulously photographed by Donal Skehan and published by Quercus (London) in June 2014.

This book is amazing! It lives up to expectations of delicious food with minimum fuss......and with professional results.... As soon as I got the book home I couldn't resist trying one of the recipes straight away. I would recommend this book to all my friends those who love cooking and those who. Well done Ms Hearne-Smith I for one can't wait for the sequel. Trillionaire's Toffee Tiffin.my favourite so far.

Wow what an amazing book with easy to follow recipes. I especially love the gluten free recipes that have been included as I have a friend who is coeliac, now she can have a sweet treat with us when she visits! Top marks Sharon hopefully your first of many great recipe books.

Oh my goodness, I didn't think it could be done, surely an oven is required to create amazing treats, Sharon has proved this to be a myth! Absolutley love the easy to follow instructions and clear guidance. No more oven disasters! Life saver!!

A fantasic presentation of a variety of sweet treats, Photos are brilliant, saw Sharon at Bloom 2014, an amazing woman!
I would recommend this book for family cooking, great to make with the kids or for dinner party delights.

London in the summer is not the hottest place on Earth – the many Australians I run into around here mock us for finding it a bit muggy! But on a beautifully sunny day, the last thing you want to do is fill up your kitchen with a hot oven. Luckily, renowned Irish food stylist Sharon Hearne-Smith has, just in time for summer, published a collection of sweets which have one thing in common – no use of your oven. What No-Bake Baking means in practice is that plenty of other kitchen appliances are used in innovative ways: there are recipes using your breadmaker, your microwave, and lots of stove work. Hearne-Smith’s background as a stylist also shows through pretty clearly – lots of her simple creations are used in beautifully, stylish ways – so instead of rice krispy treats, it becomes a rice krispy roll and peppermint creams are shaped into mock-buttons. She has an eye for colour and texture and while I’m skeptical that I can replicate it at home at such a strong aesthetic level, but having tried some of the recipes, I have no doubt of the level of taste. This is a great book for hot summers and a wonderful book for people with small apartments or students – who need to make use of all their appliances!

This is a gorgeous book! The recipes are easy to follow, and the pictures are so delightful they make you just want to get up and start " No Bake Baking " !
So far I have tried three of the recipes, The Chewy Toffee and Salted Cashew Cookies, The Rosewater and Lemon Krispie Roll and The White Chocolate and pistachio Tiramisu. They all taste as delicious as Sharon has made them look in this lovely little book.
I recommend this book to anybody that enjoys making yummy food.
Well done Sharon for an amazing first book!

I have made the strawberry Charlotte , chocolate cake in a cup, the chocolate mint slice and the pistachio, white chocolate and raspberry tartlets, all delicious and all made with the help of my 3 & 8 year old kids, great book Sharon, thanks
