5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent adventure for younger readers 3 Jan 2014
By No More Mr. Mice Guy TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
The two stories from the comic book Batman Adventures #3 are collected in this volume. They are the 17-page main story "No Asylum", and the short 5-page follow-up story "Who Am I?" These are an excellent adventure stories for younger readers who are interested in the exploits of the Batman and his supporting cast. The style of the artwork is heavily influenced by the animated TV / DVD series of DC Comics' superheroes, and so is likely to be familiar to readers. The two stories are well-written with clear storylines, characterisation, and well-described action and problem solving situations; and are very, very entertaining. As well as the comics, there is a supporting page of writer & artist biographies, a general and a Batman-specific glossary, and two pages of Visual Questions and Prompts.

THE SPOILER ZONE
The Penguin elected Mayor of Gotham City! The police ordered to treat Batman as an outlaw vigilante! The Bat-signal smashed! And all on page one! The rest of the main story - "No Asylum" - involves an attack on Arkham Asylum, where Gotham's costumed criminals are mainly housed, by a group of Ninja Assassins. But, they are not there to break criminals out - they are there to kill them! Can Batman rescue his worst enemies from this group of killers before anyone gets hurt...?

The second story - "Who Am I?" - is a retelling of the origin of the Batman, set against his battle with the Cavalier, a villain pretending to be a hero.

FURTHER READING
The `original' Batman comic books are reprinted in both colour and black-and white (and suitable for home colouring-in). They are no less suitable for younger readers than these more modern stories aimed at the same age group as the originals were.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Reader's Musings ... 2 April 2013
By Nicola Manning-Mansfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Based on the TV Cartoon. This volume starts with Penguin having been elected mayor and having it in for Batman. When trouble goes down at Arkham Asylum we are in for a ton of fun as numerous Batman villains make an appearance such as: Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Two-Face, The Joker, Harley Quinn and more. Finishes with a short story. A riot of fun! Great start to a publisher's new series.
