Product Description

The world has been taken over by zombies. Small pockets of humanity remain. Cities lay in ruins.

But none of this can stop Jake Trundle from solving the biggest case of his career because Jake Trundle is also a zombie. And somewhere deep within the recesses of his long dead brain flicker the embers of the last case he was working before the world turned to hell. And now he is compelled to solve it for all eternity, or at least until New Orleans falls down around his ears.

He doesn’t know why, he doesn’t know how and he doesn’t know much of anything when the smell of fresh meat is on the wind. But he’s going to solve this case anyway. Even if it kills him all over again.

Jake Trundle is a zombie. But he was a detective first. And nothing can take that away from him.

Not even death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Detective Story - with bits missing. 18 Aug 2012
By Pete
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The bits missing are, of course, pieces of our zombie detective. A clever an intriguing take on the zombie oeuvre.

Despite the title, this is not actually a pastiche on "The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency", rather it is a tight little tale about a zombie detective looking to solve his final case. It presents cleverly woven story threads - an actual private eye mystery to be solved, intermingled with our zombie protagonist reliving his last case, trying finally to get the girl.

Part hard-boiled detective novel, part apocalyptic dystopian vision of the end of the world, the threads of the story come together nicely to a poignant and heart-tugging end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 31 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic book, not just a fantastic zombie story. Jake Trundle should be in the detective's 'Hall of Fame', up there with Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe, for his persistance and determination to solve the case, and what a twist at the end, just fantastic!!! This is the only zombie story I've read where I was on the side of the zombies. I must read more from this writer.
